Hi guys,

Going abroad soon and need some foreign currency.

I need Dollars, USD and Saudi Riyals, SAR.

Any idea where I can get the best exchange rate from.

I will be looking to exchange around £2000.00.

Also are there anyone Banks etc that offers free cash withdrawls abroad with a decent ER?

Regards

If you are going to Saudi Arabia, there are lots of Money Changer shops,
Which give you good rates, ie. Pounds for Riyals :)

Don't know much about Dollars though.

tesco are currently the best for dollars and you can get a tesco cash card which works in all ATM's like a visa just buy your dollars and use the card as you would a credit card, you need photo id to get the card, it takes a 2 minute form filling - it also lasts 3 years so you can add to it each year and when it expires you transfer it to another tesco card and carry on for another three years

If you have time for delivery try Best Foreign Exchange, The Change Group or Thomas Exchange Global for US dollars.

You might be able to collect from either The Change Group, ICE Scotland, Thomas Cook. Thomas Cook are offering $3142.80 for £2000 (I'm just using this figure as an example) and you'll get a worse rate if you don't order online before hand apparently - same goes for the other two as well.

And for Saudi Riyals:

For delivery the best rates are:

Best Foreign Exchange, Thomas Exchange UK and Thomas Exchange Global

For collection the best rates are:

Travelex, Tesco and Natwest.

With Travelex you'll get a better rate if order online before hand. With Tesco and Natwest rates may be different in stores/braches than online/phone, not sure if you can order online/phone before collecting.

Suppose it's too late for this if you're going soon but you could also consider getting a Halifax Clarity credit card which has worldwide 0% load & no cash withdrawal fee. More info can be found here.

Hope this helps.

Check out http://www.moneysavingexpert.co.uk. There's a section on there, you can either put in how many pounds you want to spend or how many dollars you want, and it will tell you the best exchange rate.

Yes, to benchmark a decent rate, use the Travel Money Maximiser on MSE.

Not used Best Foreign Exchange but is mentioned on the Travel Money Maximiser

Travel Money Maximiser on MSE.

Might be worth checking MSEs Foreign Currency guide as well
