I currently have an s7 edge and seem to be a rare man in that i am not impressed with the photos. In terms of the dynamic range etc it's fantastic but at only 12mp coming from 21 on my Moto x style I really miss that camera for the ability to achieve super sharp images even when zoomed in. When zooming in one the s7 images they're very soft indeed and that's only zooming in very slightly on the phone itself

Thinking of selling the s7e as a result so was looking for some suggestions.

Probably better to look into this more through phone reviews done by experts, simply because higher MP does not necessarily mean better - they still need software to utilise the hardware

Theres more to pictures than megapixels. try playing around with the settings. My S7 edge blows all my other phones out the water.

Moto Z with the Hasselblad True Zoom mod?

Load the camera app on your Moto X Style and then swipe in from the left hand side to bring up the menu. You will see and icon on the menu that looks like a capital L. On that option you can select Widescreen - 16.1Mp or Standard - 21Mp.

And if you want better photos then can achieved with very constrained hardware, buy a camera rather than s phone....

I know. I'm a photographer, I own a DSLR but I'm just not impressed with the s7 edge camera. On the surface they look great but when zoomed into the image to a 1:1 ratio the pixel level detail is quite poor. I think I may have a dodgy unit

Try going to a phone shop to see if you can demo their S7 edge camera.

The best phone camera with a high MP count is the 21MP camera on the Lumia 950/950XL. Unfortunately, you would have to be able to cope with Windows mediocre app selection. The camera is excellent though.

I just read the post again and realised that I has mis-read it. Lets hope that I get this right. When you say that your battery dies at 13% do you mean that it switches off? If so, have you turned Battery Saver OFF?

There is a thing called battery training. Maybe look it up for your handset model and give it a try. As the for best camera on a phone, Google pixel has a fantastic camera! Especially when it comes to low light photos

Try going to Settings/Battery and tap Menu (3 dots on the top right hand corner). Choose Battery saver on the drop down menu, click on Turn on automatically, and select Never. Then turn Battery saver OFF. Hope that helps.

yeah as I said, its not that, It isnt turned on and those are the setting already. Its a fault with the battery, and from googling a common one that happens on the motos after 12-18 months usage

I must have got lucky with my Play, I purchased it 15 months ago and the battery still lasts TWO days with normal use. I don't suffer with the problem you are experiencing either, so I'm double lucky. LOL.

Only camera that scores better than the S7 Edge is the Google Pixel.

have you updated the software on the device since you last reset the phone? Sometimes parts of the old software can still run until you factory reset. I've had this problem on my Galaxy Note 4. I believe 12%-13% was also my cut off point.

Rubbish, if you were a photographer you should know basic things like the megapixel count doesn't have much correlation to the overall image quality.

... I know megapixel count means nothing but what I'm saying is I miss the extra megapixels for zooming coming from the 21 on the Moto. I know the s7 camera is better in every way but I made this post to ask of good phones with higher MP count than the s7 as 12 isn't enough for my particular use case. I'm not a pro photographer but I own a DSLR, have spent many hours using it in manual mode and shooting raw etc etc. I was trying to imply I have SOME knowledge

I second the meg pixels don't mean diddly foo. it's samsung they are idiots they keep changing who's lenses they use the camera on my s5 is really poor vs the s4 and it's supposed to be better. I think Sony do some decent cameras on there phones but can't gaurtntee it. u could get a say s4 zoom they have really good zooming function and it won't cost u so much they around 60/80 quid.

Sony phone cameras are awful in my experience, not consistent in quality at all even compared to a Moto G. Take the odd great photo but plenty of awful ones too. Doubt I'll ever buy a sony phone again.
