Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but you simply won't find a good laptop with a decent graphics card for less than £300.

If you are happy with onboard (shared memory) graphics then Dell will most likely be your best bet. Unfortunately, you've just missed out on an offer for their brand new Vostro laptops for £292 delivered - expired just last week, IIRC.

If you want dedicated memory (ie. a proper graphics card with dedicated memory) then you're looking at paying at least £450 for a new laptop, and that will be the very lowest end of the market.

You'll either need to adjust your budget or your expectations, I'm afraid.
Will second what sweetchuck said there, although if you don't intend on playing 3d games you will be okay with the modern on-board solutions (although I'd still pay a bit more and get a dual-core processor...)

You would be able to find a very decent specced base unit (with 3d graphics) for under £300 however if you decide to go down the desktop route again...
Have to agree with the above unfortunately.

jah is right to suggest a base unit instead of a laptop.
