Just avoid the Compact C2. Great on hard flooring but diabolical on carpets. I have to pick threads up off the carpet even after going over them 10 times with the miele. Worst vacuum I have ever owned

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind.

What about the C3, has that got good suction for carpets?

Yes, suction is so good that thankfully you can turn the suction down to be able to move the hose vacuum head along the carpet. I have the Miele C3 Complete Extreme Powerline.

Mine does have excellent variable suction but it just refuses to pick up bits of thread, cotton fluff etc from pile carpets. Its got a really poorly designed head with no rotating brush bar, hence you need to buy one as an extra (turbo tool).

According to that link, the carpet performance is C, so would the C3 Cat and Dog not be better, it has a carpet rating of B?

I'm simply after the most powerful cylinder miele with best carpet suction and airwatts

I think that's going to be a tough criteria to meet as from what I read the best vacuum cleaner out there won't necessarily be A or B rated on its energy label.

I could be wrong but I think the Cat and Dog Miele comes with a turbo carpet brush as standard which I believe is propelled by suction. This factor alone may have afforded this vacuum its B energy rating above the one I have. If the wattage is lower then that will have course contributed too.

At the time I purchased mine I looked at the Cat and Dog one and it was out of my budget. I found the main difference was the Powerline Extreme didn't have the turbo brush but it is compatible and can be bought separately later on.

Just looked and the Cat and Dog one is 1200W.

Thanks all.

@devilad - It's not the energy rating i'm bothered about (I prefer it be a D-G even, because I know it will be more powerful). Is there a 1600W Miele with a Carpet Rating of B? If so, i'd buy it...

Or can I do this? Buy the MIELE Complete C3 Extreme PowerLine Cylinder (which is 1600W) and then buy a good carpet attachment like the Electrobrush which comes with the MIELE Complete C3 Electro Plus Ecoline?

It's the Electro version is a crazy price £450 (only 800watts). The C3 3extreme (1600w) is around £150, so couldn't I buy an aftermarket electro brush for it?

Hey, I like your thinking but I think the Electro brush is independently powered. So you would have to find a reasonably priced Electro brush that's compatible with a reasonably priced Miele C3 vacuum.
