Best monitor for £200 or less?

I'm after a 24" monitor for £200 or less, I could possibly go for a 22" monitor if the quality is that much better for the money, or I could spend ever so slightly more if it is really worth it.

All help much appreciated.

am a little worried though that you suggested the ebuyer extra value monitor.... am going to be using it for my xbox so a bit of quality would be good.

maybe it is a good screen, but i'm a little doubtful.

why those ones in particular?

is this one (£230) hdcp compliant? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/150964

Edge10 24" Wide TFT Monitor Blackwith Stereo Multimedia speakers, VGA and DVI ports

The W243h from Edge10 comes with a massive 24 high resolution LCD Display, maximising the available space on the screen and minimising the need for constant and repetitive scrolling. Users can have multiple applications such as Email, accounts, Instant Messenger and webpage’s running simultaneously without tabbing through various sessions. The W243h performs as good as it looks with a robust Height Adjustable 4way stand, which also pivots allowing portrait viewing too. Stereo Multimedia speakers, dual input (VGA and DVI) mean that this screen wants for nothing! Backed by our industry leading three year on-site exchange warranty.
From Saverstore, it's Edge10 24" Wide TFT Monitor Blackwith Stereo Multimedia speakers, VGA and DVI ports for £162.34.

These are, I think, probably the best 24" offers around at present for around £200.

The Samsung is only available for pre-order at present.

Has the xbox360 (I assume it's that one, you probably don't want to use the old one on such a high-resolution screen) had it's long promised 16:10 update added yet?

If not then you'll want a monitor that's either 16:9 such as the BenQ E2400HD or Dell S2409W or a normal widescreen monitor that shows a 16:9 picture properly without stretching or cropping such as the BenQ G2400WD.

Oh, and ignore the monitor specs like contrast and response rate, they're pretty much meaningless these days.

and 16:9 is better for movies too?

seems i'll go for the dell over the samsung then - unless anyone says different....

actually - why's it gone up in price - i'm sure it was £190 a month or so ago....

16:9 came from movies, TVs use it because movies used it, and consoles only use it because TVs use it.
