try the post office.. or i know that Thomas Cook also have deals of the week on currency...

300 Sterling Pound = 430.6602 U.S. Dollar @ Thomas Cook

Yes you can, for large amount you may need to order, but this seems small enough, you should have no problem.

I always use western union shops. I'm trying to find their rates but I find they are always lower and have no commission charge etc.
