As good a rate as you will find anywhere. Usually you can collect these from the airport.

You should phone a couple of places eg Marks and Spencer, Post Office and two travel agents, and you'll get an idea of the best price. Thomas Cook will then usually match the lowest rate found.

Avoid banks at all costs!

...so if you dont live in London and dont want the worry of your currency not arriving/going missing then its Travelex.

I went to Spain a couple of weeks ago and flew from Gatwick. I had a shop around for Euros and found the post office didn't offer particularly good rates - even when you buy bigger amounts. You will probably get the best rates from the specialist high street exchange booths. But these are far and few between unless you are in central london. I ended gettting mine from Tarvelex as majic suggests. Not only did they offer the best rates but I picked them up at the Airport before flying. They open at 4am.

Thomas Cook normally beats marks and spencers and the post office on there rates. There was a voucher on there website that you could print off and you get an extra 1%

Travelex have a price promise. If you find a better rate, they will refund the difference. I recently tried it out. I ordered from Travelex online, then immediately sent an email to their CS stating where I found the better rate (almost always thomasexchange). They replied within 2 hours and I received my cheque for the difference today.
