Did you check @ Wickes ? Their own brand products are often much cheaper than B&Q.

Hi,

Please don't go by the B&Q website, as it will only show less than 1/10th of what the warehouses sell, thus you might find a cheaper alternative if you go instore.

Another suggestion is there has been a thread on select Focus DIY stores closing down, maybe worth a look there?

Have you checked to see if the energy department can supply a grant?
Maybe your local authority have a scheme to help with cost

Yep, log onto www.est.co.uk

They can guide you to where grants are available. Call your energy supplier, they have loads of grants.

Hi
yes I have found out about the grants, I would qualify for the £150 cashback scheme. but this way i have to get it fitted by a certified installer.
the quotes I have got from these guys are all over £700. so would cost £550 after cashback.
I'm thinking if I can buy the insulation for under £120 it would make more sense to do it myself.

thanks for all your suggestions and help

Im sure b&q has buy one get one free on the loft insulation so could save you a bit of money.
pretty sure it is the space blanket that is on offer as well which stops most of the itching when you have to go into the loft

As edi said check out wickes .

Try calling your local timber yard - Travis Perkins, Rembrank, Jewson. I reckon at least one of them will beat B&Q/Wickes/Focus prices. Just tell them how much you're after and you can haggle them down.

As others have said try wickes. There is a great 20% off code posted by emma for Wickes online only.Unfortunately there is only one type of their insulation available to buy online here:
http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/210022?htxt=6YwZAISW1i5OgIudElUVh4%2BI3KMD0YlK3aWM7EPIBJQVvJOxcInvY1H4JwBcSZ2MIfCIMv2VNq1z%0AWJ9bQPNXrg%3D%3D

The 20% off code is EM1.
