Hi,
I know nothing about these but want to buy my dad one for christmas. I know it's a hard question but which is the best one.

I've heard that TomTom is the best. Any ideas of the model to go for?

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Depends on what he's want it for.
Does he travel a lot?
Does he speed?
How is he with techy stuff?

He's ok with techy stuff but the simpler the better. My Mum and Dad go camping a lot so it would be great if it can be uddated with campsites, points of interest etc. He drives like a dad and isn't a speedy but camera postitons would also be a bonus.
Ideally would like a satnav that can be updated regularly?
Your help is appreciated

Any tomtom is great, just depends on your budget (p.s. IMO)

What's the bluetooth used for in satnavs?

One or both of two things:-

Handsfree calling with your mobile
Data connection through your mobile for information (traffic, weather, that sort of thing...)

In my opinion it’s pretty good for a budget model and let’s face it a lot of the features on high end GPS are a waste of money. If your Dad simply needs a GPS for navigating around the UK, then this should meet his needs. MapShare is super handy too, which means he can go online and update the maps with all sorts of changes.

Saying that I’ve had good experience with other brands too including ViaMichelin and Navman

Bluetooth on sat navs is to connect to your phone during driving, you can then use the sat nav as a hands free calling device. I've always found this feature to be a little broken in how the caller can hear you, it may have got better now though, I haven't tried with my new phone.
