I rang motorpoint after a car last week and it was an Import.
On the other hand www.cheap-cars-online.co.uk specifically sell UK models. Their Picasso and Mondeo deals are good but not too sure about the others.

Thanks ferengi,
Its the mondeo estate I am after. Their quote is £100 dearer than what I have at the moment but I have requested a quote to see if they can beat my current delivery estimate of 12 weeks !!

They merely acted as an intermediary and put me in touch with the selling main dealer. I didn't pay them anything - they received commission from the dealer.

Purchase was entirely through the normal main dealer procedure - they normally can give you registration number from their lists well in advance.

Has anybody used www.cheap-cars-online.co.uk?

I have just placed an order to a Xsara Picasso and the local dealer is adament that the prices they are offering are not achievable. £1500 short of his cost price. He even phoned Citroem UK to ask for help in matching the deal!

I have gone ahead as I am in no rush and figure that I have nothing to lose, but I wold be glad of any feedback!

I can find out little about

www.cheap-cars-online.co.uk

I fancy one of their deals but they are mysteriously quiet on the web other than their own site. Does anyone know anything about them?

Regarding Motorpoint - when my neighbour bought his Astra from Motorpoint, they sent letters to everyone on our street telling that our neighbour bought an Astra for great price. They didn't put his name on it or price he paid, but still he was extremely pi**ed about it.

I know it sounds odd, but try the Sunday Times.
The 'Ingear' supplement regularly has very good deals. Not the car ads. but on the
page that deals with readers' car problems.

You take a massive hit on value as soon as you buy a new car.

Get one still under warranty at an auction of fleet cars and you can pay 40% less for a car with full service history and still be under a year old.

Is that 40% really worth it to get a new one?
