I'm looking to purchase a decent watch soon. Budget is around £250 , ideal would like it with a black leather strap however I'm open to alternatives. Does anybody have any suggestions? would prefer it to be from a respectable watchmaker instead of a fashion watch.

Rotary make good, solid watches.

Rotary in the last few years have all been made in China (apart from the higher end range which would be out of my budget)
thanks for your suggestion but I think I'd rather see if I could push and get something swiss made :)

Some nice Tissots about for the price.
PCR200 is a good choice.

Here's the one I picked up - Tissot PCR200

Citzen Eco watches are good, I have a radio controlled one which never needs a battery, so no expensive battery changes with sending away to be re sealed and pressure tested.

If you sign up to amazons men's fashion they will send you a code for a further 20% off, but this is by far the best watch I have owned, and I do own far more expensive watches!

Try CreationWatches - based in Singapore, great prices. I have bought a couple of watches from them, a Seiko Orange Monster and an Orient Mako XL - delivery is astonishing, about two days door to door.

This.

My last three watches have been from there. Excellent service and price. £250 should get you something decent from there

wow, creation watches looks really good. Not sure if it's a good thing you told me about it - think it's gonna cost me money.

They really are spot on as far as I am concerned - it's exciting tracking your order as it comes from the other side of the world....!!

If it's an option, try SH, the last nice watch I picked up was a 60's (Pre 'Moon Watch') SS Omega Speedmaster for £150, it needed a new strap and service but if you aren't in a rush and happy to go SH keep an eye out, wouldn't like to think what a new one is.
