We're now stuck with it at the bottom of the stairs and have had a quote of £150, it's not an expensive piano as I'm still just learning so I don't want to have to fork out a lot for it, anyone got any ideas?

would need pic of piano and staircase but usually it's just tilt and pivot. also see what can be removed from the piano to make it smaller and lighter as they weigh a ton... it may be a good idea to start a bbq and have lots of drinks in.. that way friends will come and help and enjoy the after party... also ensure u tie good rope around to stop it falling back..

phone your local rugby club - they'll be happy to assist you !

What was the £150 quote for? To come and take it upstairs? Can't you get a group of friends to come and help move it?

Borrow/hire/buy two scaffold boards
Go to the local small supermarket (coop is good) and ask to borrow two sets of metal bread wheels.
Borrow/buy a couple of tow ropes.

If you have or can borrow above the cost is zero. If you have to buy the scaffold boards (£15 each) and two tow ropes (£5 each) you have spent £40 and will probably get half back by selling afterwards.

I would pay the nice man to do it. One slip and.......nightmare. Maybe check they're insured, as well.

Acoustic pianos are extremely heavy and it's not an easy task to move them around a house, let alone up-stairs. I used to move a few in my prime but only once did I move one from upstairs to down. The piano pretty much moves itself and you need to guide it.

You need two very strong people, one person has to lift from the piano feet and the other from the side close to the top. Be prepared for wall damage and some swearing.

I would get some more quotes then pay for someone to do it as it is heavy and being new, you may damage it. Make sure you get a properremoval company as they are familiar with how to lift heavy items without damaging it.

You purchased a piano and the service to deliver it upstairs.
That was your consumer contract.
By not delivering it upstairs they have broken the contract.
Ask them to either fully fulfil the contract or come and collect the piano and refund you.

That is definately my favourite episode for them. Hilarious classic and time less.

I've just posted a deal for their box set. £16.40. Cheaper than what I paid. :)

Sounds like a fair quote to me. 2 maybe 3 guys for an hour doing a really awkward job.

Go down the local pub and recruit the biggest guys you can see and buy them some drinks for the job. :)

Just make sure they're not already tanked up when asking them.
