Better digital camera?

Ok, i have the vivitar one from argos, which cost me £35.

Its pretty **** - it highlighted this when i took some snaps yesterday.

Its a 3.2 - but i cant tell where!

So yeah, im just looking for a better quality camera - obviously need to buy a better make.

Ive been looking at getting the 5mp £60 kodak easyshare from argos - has anyone got any advice?

Or a better came for the same price, as £60 is really top whack.

Thanks

Got an Asda near you? www.asda.com > store locator

£50 Canon 5mp A530 £50 still best value digital camera under £100 imo.

Does need a SD card though it came with a 16mb one.

Looks pretty nice.

I have an asda 10 miles away.

I have a 512mb, and a 128mb SD card, will it take those?

Also, do you have one of these cameras? And can personally recommend?
I dont use my camera for much, just shots of my little boy mainly, but i still want nice photos to look back on.

Any more ideas?

Thanks

It'll take those SD cards

I setup the A530 for a cousins bday present, girlfriend bought one as well to replace her aging 3mp thing as she was impressed too, cracking little camera for the price considering the quality.

I can't see how you can do better for £60 or less imo.

PS: Ensure you call up before heading down there to check if they have stock, they should be able to reserve it for you.

Although the Vivitar one you mentioned has 3.2 Megapixels it's pretty much irrelevant as it's the lens that's most important, if you go for a Fuji or Canon you can't really go wrong.

Supplies of the Canon mentioned in this thread will be very lmited and you would be extremely lucky to get one.

If you can stretch up to £75 I and many others on this forum would recommend the Fuji F20, see:

Have a look at the refurb cameras on Kodak's website

http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=3316/9160/10753&pq-locale=en_GB

there are often a few bargains (I've bought 2 from them).

The ones I bought were new in sealed boxes, the only downside is you only get 6 months warrenty

Indeed the quality lens on that Canon will beat any £60/£70/£80 6mp/7mp job from the likes of Samsung/Casio etc, Canon vastly superior.

You won't be disappointed :)

I know its just slightly over your budget £64.87

However this is a fantastic 7mp camera for the price, I have one and its easy to use and takes great point and shoot photos. My 5 yr old had a great time taking pics on holiday.

I have had my Canon 400 (4mp) for few yrs now. It is a lot more compact than the A530 which is what I wanted. Very pleased with it and it has taken a few knocks.

I think they are now coming out at 8mp, so might be too pricey. Excellent quality and superb pic results. I am a total amateur.

Best value digital camera under £100 has to be the Fuji F20! I listened to what mikeyw said about it then went out to 2 camera shops who also backed that up. I've got one and best thing I bought plus in an earlier thread, you can get it for approx £74 just now.

I've got a Canon A530 and think it's been an excellent camera which you won't be disappointed with. However, if I was buying now I'd get the F20 even though its £25 more if only for the superior low light operation.

Where can the f20 be had for £74? Thanks

Tesco Direct, see my post above #5

Fuji F20:
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2007_reviews/fuji_f20.html

50% more than my Canon, not sure it's worth that not to mention Fuji's previous (and current) interlacing of pictures double mp figures etc :)

Still worth 50% more for the low light shooting, and the fantastic battery life.;-)

I could be wrong but I'm quite sure that the F20 does actually have 6.3 Million effective pixels rather than being interpolated like the older Fuji's. Also although the Canon does get a glowing review on Steve's Digicam's (and as I've said I own one and love it) it is worth noting that the review is about a year older than that of the F20.

Ah but he did say IMO at the end of the post so that's simply his opinion and not the reality

I went for the c433 i think it was (4mp, with zoom) from kodak - thanks to barneydog (rep left)

£31.99 delivered (refurb) and quidco tracked at £1.20 so £30.79 delivered, not a bad deal at all!

Certainly cheap enough.;-)

Not really - considering i paid £35 for the vivitar - which has always been **** etc.

Just wondering if the new camera also works as a webcam, as even though the vivitar is ****, it still doubles up as a webcam :)
