Am wanting to travel Blackpool to London Euston (1 adult, return, without railcard) over half term. Can travel anytime from May 24th but must be back in Blackpool by June 3rd. Have been told there are Virgin Advance Single C tickets out there for £16.50, but I can't seem to find any. Anyone help, please? Could tavel in and out of Preston if this cuts the price. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Hi,

I use and book trains quite a lot, and I reckon the the advance seats havent been released yet as I cant see anything for any route.

Your best bet would be to call Virgin and see what they can do, if they only offer you a saver return, turn it down because you can get that on the day at the ticket office. There will be some cheap tickets out there, its just a case of checking every day.

It may be cheaper to get tickets from Preston and buy a cheap day ticket from Blackpool. It might be also cheaper to go from Manchester or Liverpool (not sure if that's an option).

Also if you're using the web use thetrainline.com, not Virgin as their new system looks unfriendly and I reckon they're making it even harder for us to find cheap seats.

I'm still having no joy on this one; I might wait a couple of days and try again. Every website I try is simply refusing to give up any cheap tickets at all!!!! I'll cross my fingers.....

Hi just to let you know cheap tickets are normally only released 8 weeks before date of travel. It would be best to wait until then.
Also note that a new timetable comes into operation on 20th May so be careful trying to arrange timings now as they may change.

Check this out, it wont help you direct but just shows how ridiculous our pricing system is...
