i forgot to say that the flights were around £150 and that is without the hotel
have you tried easy jet
easy jet flights are about £150 for both so thats better
but then i have to find a cheap hotel and i just cant seem to find any sob sob :-(
i really only wanted to spend about £200 for the flight and hotel for 2 or 3 nights or is that just asking for a miracle
thanks very much for suggesting easy jet though :-)
Not sure about flights, but if you go to Florence then I would recommend the Pitti Palace Ponte Vecchio to stay, it's about £70 a night per room (2 adults sharing) which is great for somewhere so central in the city. I booked it last year through when they had a deal if you booked 4 nights you got 20% off as far as I remember. Not sure if they have anything on offer at the moment.

It's at the south end of the Ponte Vecchio and between 5-15 mins walk from most of the tourist things. You get nice views from the 6th floor terrace attached to the restaurant/bar. The staff are lovely and very helpful (they speak great English if you don't know any italian, and they'll book tickets for things like the Uffizi for you that saves you standing in big queues. There is also a lovely wee restaurant along from the hotel along the Via de Santa Spirito that is a converted coach-house and the food is amazing, not your usual pasta menu, but really inventive dishes and a great list of excellent wine and it's very reasonable. The chef sometimes makes new dishes and hands them out free for people to try to see if he should put it on the menu, this happened both nights we went during our 5 day trip.

If you go to Paris then I've got no advice for you I'm afraid! :p

PS There are some offers for Viva Hotels in Florence so have a trawl through them and see if any can be applied:
ive got it down to £300 for room and flight but thats the best i can do
thanks for your suggestions
