they were on watchdog the other night for being really ****.. they come out quickly, but dont fix the problem, and even created a gas leak in 1 house!!!

i have the homecare cover and have called them out twice for 2 different reasons, i found them to be very good, and well worth the money.

I would steer clear of British Gas they are never off Watchdog

We have used them for the last 3 years and have had them out 3 times

Always had a top notch job done and never had a problem

Although with £40 quidco I may let it lapse and re start it again!!!

Experiences differ, but I recommend you put the money you're willing to pay British Gas into a savings account and use it to pay for repairs if needed.

Most boiler repairs they cover are really quite cheap to repair if you find a decent local repair company.

BG, like a lot of companies have many get out clauses as well, and their service is hit and miss at the best.

They will always get you on the 'hard water area' problem. They probably won't cover any scale problems (heat exchanger, pipework etc).

Friend of mine had an intermittent fault with a boiler (wouldn't start off the timer, had to be manual), they joined British Gas, waited three weeks (which included getting a free service in the meantime) and then had it repaired in two days on the warranty, it was a full new circuit board that had to be installed so the overall saving was fab + excellent service

OK, but the cheapest cover is £9 per month, that's £108 per year. Expensive if you ask me when you're unlikely to spend over £100 per year on repairs. I always look at things like this from the perspective of the company selling the services, i.e. they're in it to make a profit. Generally insurance is only worth it if the potential loss out ways the cost.
