Hi all,

Happy Friday :)
My Virgin Broadband contact is about to end and shopping for some deals to at least haggle with the retention team.
But for some reason comparison websites are not throwing up anything decent to compare to, tried Uswitch, Broadband choices and compare the supermarket.

Looking for phone and BB for £21-27 pm (inc line rental). Unlimited downloads and minimum 38mb, ideally 50-100mb+..
Phone is irreverent, I don;t have one in the house :)
18 or 12 month contract.

Do these deals not exist anymore?

BT new customer deal ain't too bad if done through quidco.

We are moving house and currently have BT, but going to cancel it and then open a new account

Gah, the majority of my friends and family end up just coming back to VMedia as a new customer. They go to the likes of say BT or Sky but find they took the line speed of VMedia for granted and complain "how slow it is compared to their old provider".

Cancel it off and join as "a new customer", you'll get a better deal than staying and haggling.

Try SSE they are doing £21 for superfast fibre and talk anytime including rental on 18 month contract

Have you looked a postoffice broadband ? they usually have some deals

VM just got back to me yesterday after I told them I was leaving. I got 100mb, new super hub 3 for £20/month for 12 months. No phone.
Reckon I could have refused it and waited for another phone call with a better deal but couldn't be bothered with the hassle. I'm happy with £20 and faster speed.
As others have said I think I would regret leaving having being used to a mostly constant speed. The cabling in my area has just been upgraded and is going online next week. So they say there won't be a problem getting 100+ speed. :)
Just done a speed test and it shows 104Mbps. Wowee. :)

Post office advertise what looks a good price over 12 months but they hide that it's an 18 month contract and you get hammered in the last 6 months. You will also be lucky to get more than10mb speed. :)

I tried to change to sse but you have to be an sse energy customer to get their broadband :( good deals for those who are though.

Yeah, looks a good deal but unfortunately not in my area. It would be great to get some decent competition to compete against VM.

You may find that you can negotiate a better deal if you also take their landline. I pay the annual phone fee upfront and have also got the free superhub 3, upgraded broadband and free weekend calls for £12 a month. I agree with you and others that the Virgin product is very good which makes me reluctant to leave but the endless haggling for a decent deal each time they increase their price is a pain.

They must love deals where everyone pays a year upfront but doubt I would get 100+Mb for much less. Not interested in paying upfront for a phone line I'm not going to use.

38mb Fibre Optic Free for the first year
Line Rental @ £17p/m

Ah...just read the post above.

I would say most under 60s are not using their Landlines so they are putting up the broadband prices most broadband internet prices are starting at £30 give or take a few pounds which puts as on a par with the USA which makes the U.K. and USA the most expensive broadband in the world...
