Broadband / TV packages?

I'm sure this question has done the rounds a few times, but what is the best package out there for TV and Broadband?

We're currently with Virgin Media and the service has been awful the past few weeks - we've rang them up several times but our speeds are consistently poor - they have blamed high usage on our line - theres 2 of us in the house but what do they class as unlimited!?

At the moment we're on 10mb broadband unlimited with standard tv and phone line and live in NE5 area of Newcastle if thats any help. Any advice on the packages out there would be useful and whats best, and also any advice on we can say to Virgin to perhaps get this sorted would be useful! Thanks, S.

I have the same problem, low speeds they throttle downloads back once you have exceded the limit they set. I wish i knew of an alternative myself, i pay £20 a month for 10 meg and most times it is below 3

I've just rung them and they mentioned high usage again, but we've had no notification of this by phone or email, we watch iplayer, youtube etc and use xbox live quite a lot - that was the main reason for paying a bit extra and getting an unlimited package. They've also said that our line would return to normal when the levels went down, but that shouldnt take long as the broadband is now at a snails pace - this has been going on a good few weeks now however. Apparently, our signals to noise levels are below the minimum though my housemate doesnt think this would be the only issue. Theyre going to monitor it for 24 hours and then take action if its still rubbish. I tried to get him to tell me what the actual 'fair usuage' limit is, and he just sent me a useless email telling me nothing I already knew. Does anyone know?

whack a test on www.speedtest.net and see what it comes back with

Upload of 0.70mb/s
Download of 2.50mb/s
Ping of 52

Way below the ISP average, using O2 Broadband, paying 7.50pm
