Building A Gaming PC For Under £400?

Dazimus Avatar

Just after some advice on what parts I can get to get a PC that will play PC games at pretty good quality for under £400 really. I'm just after the base unit and would need CPU, motherboard, RAM, Gfx card, soundcard and a tower. I'll be carrying my DVD-RW over from my existing PC.

Any idea? Links? Thanks for your help :)

I'd looked through that one but it was too much as it didn't include a tower nor the decent graphics, taking it way over the £400 :(

Suppose if the on-board sound was smart enough it'd be cool :) I've got two IDE drives so I could use those if need be, though SATA would be nice but due to budget I could get a new HDD next month or something :)

Yeah, thats quite good if its brand new but would still probably prefer the above

One thing you'll not get a great deal of performance out of a 7600 GS...if you want gaming then I'd suggest a higher spec card...the 7600GT at least.

What's the difference between the GS and GT?

I saw a well specced BigPockets PC on the main deals page a few days back for £300 - add a gfx card and bobs your auntie. Cant find it now though - think it had 1GB RAM as well - another £30 for another gig or so wouldnt hurt.

However, we don't allow eBay links in the forums, so that's been removed.
