Bulk USB Flash Drives Wanted 50(ish) for less than £3.00ea

I want to give away my CV on a USB key so I'm looking for a source of cheap USB flash drives, preferably for less than £2.50. Ideally, I'd like them to be at least 1GB so that the recipient will want to keep it which will remind them of my application. I'm happy to buy smaller quantities for less money too.

Or try this, then you can put "Doublecuffs CV Drive" on it ;)

That's a good idea. If you really want them to remember you, you could get one's with a plain surface and get someone locally to Hot foil your name and details onto the surface, a bit like you can get on pens. So every time they use it in the future, you name and contact details are there on view.

I found these for £3.29 (qty 6+) at 7dayshop.com, but I don't really want their logo all over a USB key with my CV on it.

Can anyone find anything better?

Just send a proper printed CV. Otherwise the companies will think you are a dick.

I would agree if I was just sending it in the post, but my plan is to hand it over at an exhibition when the recipient is going to be busy dealing with real enquiries and won't want to take a paper CV or would lose it as soon as possible. Handing over a USB flash drive will hopefully encourage the recipient to accept it, keep it and take a look at the CV before deleting it and making the flash drive their own.

I would be weary. Most companies I have worked for don't allow USB flash drives to be run on their PC's. The worry is that if you give them it will they not put it somewhere else other than with the rest of the applications, meaning that they dont look at it?? or even if they do lok at it they will have to print it off in order for CV screening etc.

There are other ways to get yourself noticed - dress to impress, research the companies you want to talk to, dont just canvass everyone. Take the time to speak to them about the positions they have, introduce yourself, tell them about yourself, ask questions about their company and show them you know a bit about them and what they do, not that you are just giving everyone a CV in the hope of getting a job.

Being "quirky" is unlikley to get you a job, giving them the time of day, showing that you are interested in working for them and showing them you are the right kind of person for them is a lot more likely to.

If it is an exibition where they wont want paper CV's ask them for a business card an email it to them??

when you put your cv on the usb, somehow copyright protect it so they can't delete it.
That way your CV will always be on there.

Thanks for all the advice.
