Hi Lendu, which generation of Gear S are you looking at?
I got the Gear S3 frontier and it's incredible, worth the money I guarantee it.
Mine lasts about 3-4 days if I don't spam it and use it like a regular watch.
It's a hefty price but you get what you pay for! :)

Hi cynequil, thanks for reply, what did you pay for it, il check it out now. does it allow to download from google play store, I was looking at the gear s with curved screen, only because of its size, I like a big watch.

A mi band 2 works for me for now although I would not buy another. A friend has a firbit charge 2 watch which I think I would consider, but are you buying for fashion? long battery and buzz alert is all you actually need so anything else is a bonus. Messing with a watch trying to read or respond Dick Tracy style is just to much trouble, after messing with watch you end up pulling phone out of pocket to respond anyway, which means that most just reach for phone every time they get an alert as far easier and quicker. Having to charge every few days eventually means folks give up to.

totally agree with this comment

the idea of trying to read messages in a watch etc is a gimmick IMHO - nice idea but you soon getr bored of it

depends if you want it for the fashion statement or for practicality

I also had teh Mi band 2 - tiem on your wrist and buzz alerts to promt you to look at your phone

I had an LG Android Wear watch but returned it after a day - charging every day on a dock was a PITA - for example if you want to use the sleep monitor you need to have it on charge in the evening ... and teh damn thing lights up like a Christmas tree when you get any messages / alerts - not good in business meetings :)

I now have an Alcatel OneTouch Watch - it is for me the perfect combo - looks like a normal watch so for business wear it is fine - get alerts etc on the watch - can read sms etc in basic form - some basic apps (it runs a propriortory OS) and the charger is built into the watch strap :) and teh battery lasts up to 4 days and charges in an hour.

just another idea!

wayners and elitom, I totally agree with both of your statements, your so right, it is just a gimmick and that. im just a gadget person and love my gadgets, its probs abit sad but I don't know I just get the thing to have to own one.
considering the price I might be abit put off to be honest.
I did have the fossil founder and I did like it a lot but I know wat you mean. thanks for that.
but as im still considering one I would still like more info on Samsung gear s

I have the Huawei watch. fantastic but of kit. all be even better when android wear 2 is released in the next couple of months

I don't think Samsung watches run off Android, and run on Tizen instead. I wouldn't get one as the apps might be limited, and I am waiting to see how Android Wear is going.

Sony smartwatch 3, does everything the more expensive Androidwear watches do at a 1/3rd of the price...
It even has built in GPS unlike many of the more expensive AW devices.

I usually get 3 days between charges out of mine...

Edit: The Sony is running Androidwear as well btw

that's whats putting me off, I want it so I can customise my watch via the google play store. I had my fossil all customised from the google play store and it was awesome. but had ot give that back so after something similar.

I picked up a first gen Moto 360 for £99 from John Lewis last year.

It's great for the money.

It works great with Facerepo, Minimal and Elegant etc. Minimal and Elegant alone has over 16000 watch faces available.

Yes it's a novelty.... Yes I change my face every few days.... Yes I am sad.... No I don't care hehe.

There are genuine uses for a smart watch.

I could live without it, but it is "useful.

One of the highest rated watches is the Huawei. You should check them out too.

I owned the Galaxy Gear S the one with the OLED/AMOLED Screen, you was able to use a sim card with it, but when you received or made a call you could not hear much due to the noise outside. For indoors and driving purposes it's great but defeats the purpose of making calls where and when you want.

Apps was slightly restricted although I did not download much on it.

I don't know whether to take that as sarcasm or if your being serious

Sony Smartwatch 3 here.

It's android, has decent spec with NFC, GPS and 4gb build in merry, and unlike a lot of others is VERY reasonably priced. Think its been on here recently for £60-70.

I got it for running so I could use the GPS in case I didn't want to take my phone.

3-4 days light use between charges.

Google voice recognition has been pretty good for replying to text messages, much better than I thought it'd be. Not something I'd want to use in public, bit handy for quick replies.

There is the vector meridian or lunar which has 30 days battery life but is basic

Saw a man with an apple watch the other day and boy, doesnt he look femine with it!
Definately not great for men. Doesnt look good for women either as it looks like a childrens watch, something from disney.

I would like to start wearing a smart watch but they are years away from looking attractive enough, especially for women. The apple watch can just about live on a womans wrist but really barely just.

It was the app bit. I prefer the Android capabilities because you can download from Google play then.
