I viewed a motorbike today and though cosmetically it was looking rough, the engine and working parts looked good so for the price I was pretty pleased.
I then got home and did the proper checks (MOST and HPI history check) and found out annoyingly it was a Cat-D. Not the end of the world however according to the MOT records it was not MOT'd again after this. Is this legal? It gets worse in the fact the MOT runs out later this month!
I also noticed that a license plate light was strobing with what seemed to be the revs of the engine, the guy said this was a feature and I don't believe you need one to pass MOT for a bike? However I am worried this shows a problem with the electronics, though lights and indictors work fine.
Honestly get the feeling the guy is playing me for a mug, which is unfortunate as the engine is sound and I could deal with the rest.
TLDR ; do bikes need to be MOT'd if they have been repaired post Cat-D?
Are license plate lights legally required for motorbikes and is a light blinking with the revs a sign of a problem?
