Calling all Android experts

I use a Moto G with Android and I can't seem to find a way to delete ALL deleted email messages in the trash in one go. I tried to Google it obviously but nothing helped.

Some even suggest another mail client that would have the option, but which one...

I really hope someone will have the answer to my question, thank you very much in advance.

It's not Gmail I'm afraid, it's the main email account. Thanks anyway.

I've tried that, it doesn't sync, thanks anyway.

What is your main email account? Aside from Google Mail, do you not have to set up your other mail button eg mine is set up to default to my Hotmail address as I've had it since 1998. I've also got a Yahoo email but it's not one I use that often.

I meant you asked and sponduli answered but I had assumed you were using gmail like any right minded android user (Kidding). Why aren't you using Gmail?

Hotmail is an old email address, all my contacts are on it, I don't really want to change it, it's working fine.... except when I want to empty my trash on the mobile :p

Sign into hotmail - go to account settings - look for forwarding options (trying to find correct instructions for you) (corrected my typo ;) )

Thanks Phil, but that didn't help... the problem is that everything else syncs except the trash. Forums online are full of the same question, all unanswered. Thanks anyway.

Why would you want trash and/or spam to sync? Syncing is for items in your inbox

from looking at the picture you posted I'm guessing its the logo/picture on the left of each message, e.g the first one has a large G next to the gmail message

I want them to sync as I want to delete ALL items from trash in ONE go, as explained originally. So, if I delete all of them on computer, I would want all of them to be gone on mobile too, hence the need to sync.

Post a screenshot of the trash bin page, also have you tried the three dot menu button?

I posted the screenshot earlier here and the 3 dot menu hardly does anything, thanks anyway.

That isn't your screenshot. For a start that's the Gmail app which is totally different to the email app which you want help with.

It's the same screen I'm looking at and exactly the same set up as Gmail. Can you help?
#30
From your screenshot thats the same App i am using for Hotmail and as i far as i can see there is no way to select "all "in the Trash folder and delete them all at once. You have to swipe them one by one which cant be right.

That's what I was afraid of... I'll keep on looking though, there must be a way.... if I find it, I'll let you know.

A change of email app might be the answer too, I'm looking into it... unless someone has any suggestions?
#32
Apart from the failure to delete all trash at once its a good App. If you go into the settings of the App the only option is Swipe to delete .Nothing there about multiple delete .

If you are somehow using the gmail app with Hotmail, then why don't you just use the proper email app that came with your phone. That does let you bulk delete all emails from the trash.

I AM using the 'proper email app' and it does NOT let you delete all emails in one go. Thanks anyway.

Out of interest Patti, which email apps have you tried?
banned#38
dcx_badass
You are either using Gmail like the screenshot OR the email app, so which is it, the Gmail app like the screenshot or the email app like you just claimed (which does let you bulk delete trash).

I'm using the email app which 'looks' exactly the same as the screenshot except it doesn't say 'Gmail', obviously! It does NOT let you bulk delete trash as Patti confirmed. I came here to get help not to be attacked so I suggest you leave the thread if you can't help. Thanks anyway.

Have you tried logging in to hotmail from your PC and emptying the trash from there, and then re-sync the folders from your phone, this might clear them from the phone. If not them some people on the motorola forums are recommending an email app called K9
