Any camcorder that has a firewire connection will work, so that's the majority of digital camcorders on the market.

sadly incorrect....most dont work well and are in the wrong file types for imovie and suchlike.

Canon series is recommended highly by mac users in particular the HF10 and HF100 range..on a tighter budget the Kodak Zi6 is a good budget choice, all work seamlessly with imovie

There is loads of info on the forums at mac rumours about this if you want to go into detail

Basically all camera will work.

If you can get hold of Final Cut for your mac, the newer the version the better. Not to sure about iMovie...sorry as I know thats what you were inquiring about.

If its to be shot on tape....ie...Mini DV...then perfect capture straight into your editing software.

Otherwise if it saves onto SD cards, SDHC cards, or a Harddrive....

In final cut you can simply (Log and Transfer) the clip which will bring it in to be nicey edited.

Other wise you can install MPEG Stream Clip which is a piece of free software (That is perfect for converting anything into anything), import your footage of your camera into the software and convert it into Quicktime DV, DV PAL, Animation codec or similar and edit in either iMovie or Final cut etc etc...
