Its my birthday next week and my husband has around £50 to spend on me to buy a camera. Does anyone know of any good deals out there at the moment? I currently have an old 3 mega pixel kodak camera which takes AA batteries. I would like a camera with more pixels than this and a rechargable battery so i dont have to keep replacing them. Thanks for your help

AA batteries are fine as long as you have some decent NiMH rechargeable batteries (and obviously a charger) so I wouldn't let that put you off too much. Something like this for £8.50 would great and last long enough to take hundreds of photos (especially as these are Hybrid batteries)

As for the camera, on your budget I'd be tempted to look at a refurbished camera. Fuji have their own clearance shop, and Canon have a their Canon Outlet on eBay which I've used several times and the cameras are as new. You really don't need any more than about 6 megapixels unless you want to print huge posters, or seriously crop down your images, so don't just go for then camera with the most megapixels. Personally, with your budget, I'd be tempted to get an old Canon Powershot from their outlet, but they take AA batteries, so if that's a major no-no then maybe try the Fuji refurbs (although I think their A range uses AA batteries aswell) If I see anything else I'll let you know. One thing I would say though is to try and stick with a decent brand and don't be tempted by the cheapo ones you might see in the supermarkets.

A quick google for fuji j10 review brings up several reviews of this camera, which are generally pretty good. Obviously at this price it's not going to be the best camera in the world, but it seems to be ok. Take a read of some of the reviews yourself and see what you think. I personally think it's pretty good for the money - especially if you're dead set against AA batteries.

I also rate the Canon Powershot range (I'm on my 3rd one now), but the OP said that she would like a camera with a Li-ion battery rather than AA batteries which the Powershot A series use.

I know ....i did see them asking for the Li-ion battery but this little beauty is such a good little camera for the money and it does NOT eat batteries so I though on balance using re-charge AA's it would actually benefit them........ and if they did run out while out they can just buy a 4 pack of AA's and never mis that shot!!!

That's a super photo:thumbsup: Any camera that can do that is worth a look.

Did you know that there's a 'social' photo thread on here?

Morrisons were doing an 11mp GE camera a few weeks ago for £60.
