Hi all

The story is I've moved address and won't have internet for 5 weeks. I was thinking I could buy a preloaded data SIM card, plug it in my phone and then set my phone to personal hotspot and switch the Xbox to wireless to go online.

Would this work?

If not what's my best cheapest option to get me online for the next 5 weeks till my broadband gets installed?

Many thanks

Which sim did you go for mate? I.e what data amount, what games did you play, how many hours did it last etc? Thanks

Yes my brother has done this using his iPhone so it should work depending on your signal in the area you are in

Thanks guys. Could do with knowing how much data is used on Xbox one on live and which sim to get. I assume I need one that allows tethering?

I remember I did this a while ago. EE were doing a SIM which had "unlimited data" on it but it was capped at 100gb and I managed to get through it all in less than a month when tethering to my xbox. Hope this helps

I think 3 as unlimited date. but watch out for the 500mb + xbox one update. it had me today.

If you're in a 4G area you'll have no problem gaming online with a mobile hotspot. Three have a reasonably priced unlimited package and about 30gb can be used for tethering. It's £25 on PAYG and cheaper if you go pay monthly. Companies like GiffGaff offer unlimited data but 4G is capped at 6gb.

I read that three don't allow tethering on their payg sim deals. Is that not the case
