I am leaving my BT contract, and I'm considering Sky as an alternative supplier, however I have read in the past that they insist on Fibre customers using their own router. I appreciate this is probably the official line from Sky in order for them to be able to provide technical support on their own devices rather than 3rd party ones, however I have a Netgear D7000, a far better router than the Sky Hub, which I'd prefer to use instead. How do I find and enter the network settings to do so? I don't want to use it in Modem Only mode plugged into the Sky Hub though - needs two devices plugged in, waste of a socket and messy.

That was for the old none fibre routers, don't think it works anymore but I think you can call and ask sky your username/password now.

Sky will not give out the Username/password linked to your router (for access the internet not the password to access the router).
I have not seen the new fibre router but with every router like this it need to send this information through the line and easy to capture them.

DEC 2016 - It is no longer a requirement to extract your username and password, at least for fibre connections. For several months now as long as there is an option61 string sent then anything will work
e.g. abcdefgh@skydsl|1234567890abcdef will work

That sounds promising - it's a similar method to use BT with a 3rd party router. This would be ideal. Thanks for hunting that out!
