Oh and when you get him a watch a useful company to know is Jon Vincent Watchmakers in Hamilton. I get all my watches serviced and repaired there as do several people I know. He is an actual horologist and his team fix the watches on site unlike most places who send them off to be repaired or serviced. I was given his details by Goldsmiths when I went to get a watch serviced and the girl was really nice and told me as I was local I should just take it myself to him as it would be cheaper than them sending it. Apparently all the Goldsmith chain send their watches to him to be serviced and repaired.

Should have a look in he local pawn shops or jewellers that sell second hand watches. My partner is a jeweller in her place TAG watches go from £150 depending on the condition and if they have box and papers.

Have at look at the outlet retail parks we have a Tag shop on ours. New one will cost you around £695 I know it's a bit more than you want to spend but it will be new and have a warranty plus a lot cheaper than retail high street for a brand new one.

I probably should have said, I live in Glasgow. I don't know of any Tag outlet stores.
My reason for preferring online is, I can have a look more often than visiting Pawn shops or jewellers.
Thanks Guys

Ebay or amazon

I think you'll find it near on impossible to get a new Tag Heuer watch for around or under £600. I have looked at them in the past and didn't see much below the £800 mark.

As much as it would be lovely to buy someone a watch, for something like that you might be best of offering the money to put towards one of their choosing.

I had a look on Ebay. I am concerned that if I buy from there I may end up with a fake.

It's for my son. I know how expensive new ones are hence why I am looking at the second hand market. I really don;t want to give him money. I know a Tag is his dream watch. His face would be a picture if he opened a gift with one inside.

My brother lives in Bradford. There is an outlet near him. I could go down and pay a visit. Do you know the starting prices for them in the outlet? Cheers

There are loads of sites that sell watches, dedicated sites

I personally would avoid online if not brand new.

Jewellers/pawn shops are best bet but go in person. Or outlets as someone suggested.

Start now!

I would be inclined to give him money towards one. He is bound to get money from other family members and friends so he can put it all together and get one he likes. I think you will find it difficult getting one without having to stretch yourself and overspend. http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/list?keyword=tag%20heuer%20watches Even second hand ones are ridiculous prices. 8)

Cheshire Oaks Outlet has a Tag Heur discount store. 10mins from Chester. Half an hour from Liverpool. One hour from Manchester.

McArthur Glenn Cheshire Oaks discount stores has a Tag Heir shop.

Forget ebay. If you do get a fake you have to get proof that it is a fake. Not worth the hassle.

I also came across this one, I added it to my favourites. I've also thought about going to Auction Houses in Glasgow. Cheers

we are a family of Tag addicts and have bought one gents Tag watch in the Mac Arthur glen outlet in York for around the £600 target you mention. roughly 31/2 hour drive there and 3 1/2 hour back, possibly if you phone and speak to them they will be able to tell you exact model details to make the journey worth your while. good luck!!

There's a couple of shops in the Argyle Arcade that have used watches. I'd stay clear of online as you can't inspect them. A good pawn shop would be your next best bet.

I bought my latest Omega Planet Ocean from Albemarie Bond which is a pawn shop in Hamilton. I told them what watch I wanted and when they had one in the company Head Office sent it to the Hamilton store for me to look at. When I bought this watch it came with the box and papers and a years guarantee. It had also been serviced and cleaned. Again with the pawn shops their is room for negotiation as I managed to get another 15% of the price they were asking as I was paying cash.

Thanks to all who answered my post. You have all given me food for thought and steered me in the right direction. As requested I will let all who asked know how I get on and what watch I buy and how much I pay for it. Cheers All.

I collect luxury Swiss watches and bought most of my collection from Iconic Watches. They are grey market dealers and essentially act as brokers. The watches are brand new and boxed with all papers just like you would buy from a high street authorised dealer. But the warranty card is stamped by the authorised dealer where it was sourced from. They are able to buy at substantial discount from dealers in countries where the RRP is much lower than UK.

Whilst I'm not a fan of Tag Heuer you can buy one from them if you can stretch your budget to around £800 and you can be assured it will be brand new.

http://www.iconicwatches.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/index/?gender=8&q=tag+heuer

You didn't mention if you wanted a quartz or automatic but I don't think you'll get an automatic brand new in your budget. Iconic Watches have been a bricks and mortar high street jeweller since 1943 and members of the National Association of Goldsmiths. You can visit their shop in Blackburn and buy in person if you prefer.

Hope this helps?

Go to Ernest jones they sell new and a couple used watches, plus you can haggle upto 20% off new ones (used ones differ from store to store though). Only alternative I would use is pawn shops but do your research on what Iook for in a regards to legitimate watches
