I've been using my xbox 360 and running it through my laptop for wireless gaming and everything is working great except my NAT connection is currently on "Strict" (this can be found by running a test on your connection).

I've been informed that if it's not set on "Open" my gaming experience will be effected and i've sometimes struggled to have private chats with certain people and friends that haven't already arranged there settings to be on "Open" can't seem to join my games.

i'm currently running my wireless connection through a Netgear router and any advice would be much appreciated.

Set the DMZ to Open

Plenty of guides on the net (or forward the 360 ports 1st to try that if you use your router for your PC to)

How do i do that, as i'm not that clued up with doing things like this, is there any links you know of?

I've managed to open up the ports (i think anyway) according to the person i spoke to from Netgear, she helped me open ports 80, 88, 3074 for both TCP and UDP but it's still set on strict. :-(
