Can anyone recommend a good MP3 player for my 7 year old please?

My daughter has asked for something she can play music on that's portable. I'm guessing MP3 players are the best option seeing as you don't see that many Walkmans about these days :/ (Yes. I'm old.)

I have an ipod and was looking at a Shuffle for her, but then came across Sansa Clips. The thing that worries me is transferring the music from itunes to a different type of MP3 player. We'd need this to be easy as my teeth are already ground down with having kids in the first place.. :D

I'm not sure which model Sansa would be best? As soon as I read about the clips breaking I knew she'd end up losing it. Really, I'm not sure where to start. If anyone has any suggestions of alternative MP3 players which might be better or any other advice, where to get them cheapest and suchlike I'd be grateful.

She did ask for a red player when we were talking about ipods. This is what has thrown me - the Sansa seems the same price as the ipod in red! I'm sort of thinking shall I just go for the ipod because they're known and we have itunes, but that would be silly and lazy if there is a better alternative.

Tia,
Lucy

sansa fuze still around?

Thanks for that...I try and steer clear of buying them stuff with Disney type things on (I'm a witch, I know!) but that looks really good for the money! She would probably prefer the pirates one in all honesty. She's not a girly girl! :D I'll have a good look at those, thanks for the tip!

I was thinking about the Sansa Clip Zip...but she would need a docking station and decent headphones. I'm worried about compatabilty as the Sansa docking stations are quite expensive, and I guess everything else has ipod fixings. Although I guess headphones are pretty standard?

yeh the jam stand will take any mp3 as it has an attachment for the mix stick which makes it very cute..or a small lead which attaches to other makes...oh and and the lights flash which is a bonus!

My son and gson use the over ear headphones..the earmuff type..i dont want them putting stuff in their ears tbh! you can get kids headphones in B&M and places like that but i think my kids are just standard £2 ones as they get up to allkinds with em!

I must admit I've ordered a Sansa Clip Zip from Play.com as they were £29.99 and seem pretty cool, but I'm going to get one of these Jam Stands to go with it. Bargain!

Ta! Will try that, and pray that patience isn't needed. ;)

Just a thought but are the 2 items you have purchased compatible?
#12
It's not completely clear if they are compatible to be honest so I'm winging it a bit. I have an ipod so I can always nick the Disney thing for myself and get her some speakers ;)
#13
Ps it does say for other mp3 players and as plumberman01 said, there's a short lead attachment for other makes of mp3, so sure it will be ok.
