can i post alcohol abroad?

There seems to be so much conflicting information on the web. I basically want to send a few ales to a friend in the EU for Christmas. Has anyone done this?

I'm pretty sure liquids can't be sent in the post. Can't guarantee it though.

Restricted, but not banned by the Royal Mail

It is worth noting however, (from the link provided)

Personal customers posting items overseas should note that other postal administrations may have different restrictions. We cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to items if the articles inside are restricted in the country you’re posting them to.

Quick! You should tell all the online fragrance companies!

You could use another courier and would probably be cheaper and safer than royal mail if the weight is over 2kg
