Can I programme my sky HD box

Basically I cancelled my TV packages via sky...as I bought that NOW TV so I can still watch entertainment/movies/catch up etc.... Now on my sky box I thought only channels one to five were available...however I was wrong as I'm currently watching ITV2 ...so I'm guessing that all free view channels are available to view.. Now the question (lol) ...when I press TV GUIDE on the sky remote it comes up with lots of channels which are no longer available to view ...Can I erase them ? Can I make my own list ? I don't want to scroll through a large list of channels to be able to watch live free view ( ps I don't have freeview on my television built in or have a standard airiel ... I'm watching TV through the sky satellite

Can you not add what ones you do have to your favourites then use that when searching through the guide?

Ok. Found a little extra help by just scrolling down every channel and noting the channel number down then adding it to favourites ... I have loads of channels I can view that I didn't think I could that are not even on the freeview channel list from the freeview website... One problem tho the channel DAVE 111 should be free to view but it's not for me :(

Dave is free on Freeview, but not on a Sky Receiver, as far as I am aware.

Unfortunately you won't get Dave if you are using your sky box as a freesat receiver, it is only on Sky subscription and I believe Virgin and normal Freeview (through your aerial)

Depending on how tech savvy you are (or if you know someone who is) there are ways of getting extra live channels on your NowTV box including BBC/ITV channels/4/5/Dave/Pick etc etc.

Oh just to add; You cannot delete channels on a Sky receiver.

you can do what i did once, if u add all the freeview channels you can view on to your favourites then, when u start at first channel if u press the blue button on your remote it will only scroll through your favourite channels

for example if u go to channel 101 bbc one and start watching it while blue box is on showing now and next, if u then press the blue button on remote it will show u whats now and next on next channel in your favourites lol

Or another way is just to buy a talk talk youview box as I did. It only cost me 60 quid brand new off ebay. You get pause, record and rewind and have some access to sky premium channels (pay per view) and catch up tv for bbc1, itv etc. Best bit is two months after quitting sky it has paid for itself. I still got my old sky box which I watch occasionally for the extra music channels you get free on sky which you don't get on freeview. Ideal answer if you want all the freesat channels is to buy a Humax or similar freesat recorder or if you are not bothered about recording channels the a freesat received.

The youview box is not bad but if you classed sky box as being 5 star then youview box is 3 star maybe 3.5 star and only really let down by it's slow epg population which I understand is a youview issue so will be the same with a Humax. It records well and hi defination programmes are excellent. All in all am happy with my 60 quid box and am now 90 quid better off after ditching sky in March.
