Was thinking of using this to satisfy direct debits for Santander/Bank of Scotland Vantage.

Can I set up direct debits into the Tesco Bank current account? Or Do I need to open another account (internet saver) which allows this.

How many direct debits can I set up as I need 8?

Do the above require both direct debits to be to different sources?

TIA.

Sorry if confusing.
Dd from bofs 1 to tesco 1 and tesco 2 and 3 or however many acs you have.
Dd from bofs 2 to tesco 1 and tesco 2 etc.
well that confused me too now, no wonder the OP is confused :D
sorry, was trying to put it simply. Assuming that you have 2 BofS Vantage accounts that need direct debits, and have set up 2 Tesco Internet saver accounts.....
Log into your Tesco Internet saver a/c.
Menu on LHS - move money in - Add new. This lets you set up a direct debit from your Bank of Scotland Vantage (or Santander) account. Do this for say £1.
Repeat setting up another direct debit from your 2nd Bank of Scotland account so that there are now 2 direct debits going into the one Tesco account.
Now back to Your Accounts and go to your 2nd Tesco Internet Saver account and repeat setting up the two direct debits from each of your bank of scotland accounts.
Now you have 2 DDs going out of each of 2 Vantage Accounts so the Bank of Scotland is happy.
If you have more than 2 of each sort of account just follow the same principle.

What you're describing there is a Standing Order, not a Direct Debit. DDs are used to pay bills, not transfer money between accounts
#2
U need tesco saving accounts for dds set up to get money from your current account
#3
Japes is right. You can't have DDs going to a bank account, they're standing orders

I am sure I read that you can use a Tesco account for direct debits in the post for 3% on £3,000 on Hotuk and also here;

Do you know how many can I set up and would two satisfy Santander for example, or do both Direct Debits need to be different?

Like japes said. If what you are looking at doing is transferring money between your personal accounts, that is a standing order not a direct debit. A standing order is where you set up a regular payment between accounts, a direct debit is where you instruct an institution to take payment from your account

No.that's wrong. That is a standing order.

If you already have a tesco current account it should be easy for you to open a tesco savings account online. You then set up a £1 direct debit into it from santander and from bank of scotland. As soon as you get confirmation that it has set up - maybe a week, letter through post in my case, you set up another tesco saver and dds into it.

Yes you can use the instant access saver I only use it for the DDs though then transfer the money back out , you can set up as many DDs as you want on them but will need to be different amounts, well easy to set up online takes mins ;)

You won't be able to set up DDs from tesco instant saver to a Tesco current account as it always sets it up as a standing order probably because they are the same bank BUT you can set up DDs to any other bank that isn't Tesco if that helps you ;)

So does your suggestion satisfy a direct debit for Santander/Bank of Scotland?

Do the direct debits have to be from different sources so for example with the Santander set up one direct debit going to Tesco Internet Saver and one going to Tesco Instant Access Savings. Then can I repeat with the 3 Bank of Scotland accounts because you can set up as many as you want?

OK in that case it's easy and can be done. open tesco internet saver twice set up then direct debits to come from the 3 x bank of Scotland accounts but you will need to set up 6 DDs in total.

Just remember that the rate isn't guaranteed and could fall at any time. Do your self a favour and open 2 tesco current accounts at the same time as that rate is guaranteed until 2019. ;)

The Tesco current account has been stopped for now.

Does it matter that both direct debits come from a tesco account (Do they not have to be from different sources - can you confirm?).

Are you saying open 2 Tesco internet savers so that for each Tesco internet saver I set up a DD going from 1st BOS account to Tesco? and then repeat for other 2 BOS? (ie, Don't set up both DDs to go to single Tesco internet saver)

Do I set up the Direct Debits on Tesco or BOS.

oh I didn't realise that had stopped the current accounts at the moment :(

In that case open 2 tesco internet saver accounts and do the following

then on the first one set up from tesco internet banking DD to BOS1 for £1 , then BOS2 for £1, BOS3 for £1 so that is 3 set up on the first saver account.

then on the second one set up DD to BOS1 for £2, then BOS2 for £2 and then BOS3 for £2 so that is 3 on the second account.

that won't matter that they both come from tesco as they are different accounts and amounts.

also don't setup on all accounts when it asks do one by one otherwise you won't be able to make the same amount or same DD ref ;)

Do the direct debits have to be from different sources so for example with the Santander set up one direct debit going to Tesco Internet Saver and one going to Tesco Instant Access Savings. Then can I repeat with the 3 Bank of Scotland accounts because you can set up as many as you want?
what are you trying to do?
I want to open 3 Bank of Scotland accounts and use above to satisfy the two direct debits it requires.
OK in that case it's easy and can be done. open tesco internet saver twice set up then direct debits to come from the 3 x bank of Scotland accounts but you will need to set up 6 DDs in total.
Just remember that the rate isn't guaranteed and could fall at any time. Do your self a favour and open 2 tesco current accounts at the same time as that rate is guaranteed until 2019. ;)
Thanks.
Sorry if confusing.
Dd from bofs 1 to tesco 1 and tesco 2 and 3 or however many acs you have.
Dd from bofs 2 to tesco 1 and tesco 2 etc.

Thanks I think this answers it.

If you already have a tesco current account it should be easy for you to open a tesco savings account online. You then set up a £1 direct debit into it from santander and from bank of scotland. As soon as you get confirmation that it has set up - maybe a week, letter through post in my case, you set up another tesco saver and dds into it.

japes
What you're describing there is a Standing Order, not a Direct Debit. DDs are used to pay bills, not transfer money between accounts

Japes is right. You can't have DDs going to a bank account, they're standing orders
I am sure I read that you can use a Tesco account for direct debits in the post for 3% on £3,000 on Hotuk and also here;http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=4986259
Tesco Saver Account yes not current account ;)
OK Thanks.
Can the Tesco Instant Access Saver also be used?
Do you know how many can I set up and would two satisfy Santander for example, or do both Direct Debits need to be different?
Yes you can use the instant access saver I only use it for the DDs though then transfer the money back out , you can set up as many DDs as you want on them but will need to be different amounts, well easy to set up online takes mins ;)

oh I didn't realise that had stopped the current accounts at the moment :(

In that case open 2 tesco internet saver accounts and do the following

then on the first one set up from tesco internet banking DD to BOS1 for £1 , then BOS2 for £1, BOS3 for £1 so that is 3 set up on the first saver account.

then on the second one set up DD to BOS1 for £2, then BOS2 for £2 and then BOS3 for £2 so that is 3 on the second account.

that won't matter that they both come from tesco as they are different accounts and amounts.

also don't setup on all accounts when it asks do one by one otherwise you won't be able to make the same amount ;)

sorry, was trying to put it simply.
