From what I read I need an Amlogic chipset (S912 maybe?). At least 16 gig of memory.
I'm going to be running from 2, 2 Tb HD's and not a lot of streaming (maybe iPlayer, more 4 ect), but mostly from the HD's. So I'll need something with at least 2 usb ports.

I don't mind using Gearbest, Ali ect. price up to, say, £60. . .

What do I need? Thanks...

If you want LibreELEC then forget S912 there are no builds for it. If you don't know about LibreELEC either google or forget it.

I have a Beelink MiniMXIII S905, the S905X version of this has dual wifi & there are Librelec builds for it.

With S912 you are stuck with Android, (I have H96 Pro S912) which runs SPMC & Krypton

None of the cheap boxes get a lot of support, not even Beelink, forget about updates, everyone is bringing out new devices & don't support the older ones.

Minix do provide support but they are out of your price range.

http://www.gearbest.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_428523.html there are custom roms at freaktab.

Both the boxes I mention are on offer at the moment

Thanks for all that. Do you think there will be a build of LibreELEC for the 912 in time?

My wife's just seen this one and 'likes the shape'!!! Not the best reason to buy anything, but is it any good??

I can't argue with that :) But I don't have the ££ for one, I'm sorry to say.

I've just read that the guy behind LibreELEC says that he has no plans to ever make a build for the S912, just no time.

So, will having the S912 chipset future proof the box, or is it safer to go with the S905?

I recently bought a S912 H96 Pro. In hindsight, I think I should have bought the Beelink with S905X.

My attitude is, these boxes are being replaced by newer ones all the time. The S912 will be as well. There is a lot of support on the Libreelec forum for the S905X

By an amazon box,
You can do the same thinks and you wont have the errors and glitches. Amazon box far more responsive then any boxes.
I tried 2 android boxes valued at £100 and at £57 but no way
near amazon box.
