Cancel a Travelodge advanced room?!

Alright folks,

I've booked one of those advanced rate un-cancel-able rooms at Travelodge, but I wasn't really listening to the missus and didn't realise SHE was booking it!

Has anyone ever managed to swing a cancellation off them for some bizarre reason?

Anyone with some experience would be much appreciated.

no you won't get a refund, you are best advertising it on Gumtree or your local fb pages :)

Worth a try - I managed it once.

Might as well give it a go - you never know...

Did you have some elaborate story or were you just honest?!

Will use Gumtree as last resort

I had booked the wrong day, but I spoke to the actual hotel rather than the central booking line and the manager assisted me and changing it.

In your case I would just be honest and explain that you ended up booking it twice in error.

Let us know how you get on.

Why don't you say that when you tried to book it the transaction didn't appear to go through so your partner booked instead but now you have received the confirmation for both. If they think it was a possible error on the website they might be more lenient.

Actually - that sounds to be the best way to put it and might increase your chances....

I'd go with this.

Just a word of friendly advice, I know several people that work as hotel room booking agents, they hear various reasons for customers wanting to back out of a non refundable room on a daily basis, you stand a much higher chance of getting it cancelled if you're polite and honest from the start with them as it is not the booking agent that sets the rules, but the hotels themselves.

Good luck :)

I was thinking that myself, but.....

I tried this and it worked a treat! Probably a stroke of luck, but got it sorted.

Massive thanks to everyone who responded.
