My contract with Sky ends on 2nd Dec. Been with them for years and they couldn't offer me anything great when I spoke to them on live chat. They did offer to note on my account to have it cancelled at the end of the term.

I know people actually proceed with the cancellation, then Sky call them a few weeks later and offer them stupid offers like 75% off.

If I get them to 'note' the account to be cancelled now, will this still happen in a few weeks, or should I cancel it 31 days before the 2nd of Dec?

Thanks

Just cancel now, they will say you need to do it 4 weeks away but just ask for the operators name and quote the day time etc you cancel. They should record it and write it on the system. Don't hold your breath for 75% they lost me after 11 years as they wouldn't offer me more than about 20%, sky are a joke

we phoned up and cancelled was offered 20% off. said we still wanted to cancel. the next week went on my sky account and had 60% off any package :)

Was this during a contract or a few months before?

I usually cancel within the 31 days. If you call them in the last 31 days they will be able to offer you a discount but if your not happy with the price put in your cancellation notice. they usually call you in a couple of weeks after you put in your cancellation notice to offer a higher discount

After a great deal for a year, I ended up cancelling and going with NowTV. Once you break the "can't live without Sky" fear, you're far less likely to be over a barrel with them. I bought four NowTV boxes so have two years viewing for around £3 per month.

just remember that your passes expire 12 months after purchase date

They've got guaranteed money from you until December so you won't be getting any reduction until after that period has expired. It wouldn't make sense for them to give you an offer now. Just wait until November, give notice to cancel and let it run.

Same here, wasn't offered anything. A week or so later got an email and post offering me 60% off. Checked my account and had same offer straight in my account :)

I've just phoned Virgin Media as they have put another bill increase in of £3.90. Really fed up with them got a package of 150mb broadband, Large TV and Phone unlimited. I have now reduced the phone to weekends only and a basic TV package. Paid £184 advance line rental and now the bill is £30 for first 6 months and 33 for the second 6 months. They would not do me any further deals. We are all paying for that stupid Football contract they signed for triple the previous cost which they thought was a great deal. I love the thought of paying £200,000 a week to a footballer when I dont watch it....

I cancelled fully then got 60% off and £100 credit on my account

I cancelled and within 2 days of it going off was sent a 20% discount on any package , ignored that and 1 week later got 40% , ignored that again and 2 weeks later got 60% off all packages for 12 months plus £75 account credit , meaning the basic package would have effectively cost about £2.80 a month for a year

Check out the 75% off thread on misc, just go on webchat and tell you have been offered 60% and account credit.

Where's that?

At the end just phone and cancel, don't accept any of their 25% or 35% offers. Let the cancellation run its course. I managed to get the entire package including HD sports for £29.90 a month. With £150credit applied to my account. So effectively it worked out around £21a month. Start of next year I'll do exactly the same!

Hi, does everybody cancel their whole package including landline and broadband or is it just the channels they cancel?
