Check out this pricechecker:

£499 @ PC World, then use the 5% code to save £25 (YAWJUN08) and get 2.5% quidco too (will save another £10 or so) = £465

£449 in empire direct. But I think there is a cashback deal happening on the 26th so hold out!
#7
Where did you hear that?

Cheers for the empiredirect price though, hope it stays at that if a cashback deal does start!

Its true: http://www.canon.co.uk/eos450dcashback/

Check out the 2.5% ED voucher code on HUKD too. +2% Quidco = £380 ish.

I have ordered one (before ED can change their prices!) but am aware that whilst the ED site mentions Canon cash back, the link it gives is the old cash back products, excluding the 450D. It may be nothing, but its worth mentioning.

For what its worth, there is also someone on http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1031&message=28349224&changemode=1 stating that Canon are putting their prices up on July 1st by 9%.

But how do you know whether ED is a participating dealer for the cashback?

The cashback deal is surely with Canon rather Empire Direct right?

EDIT: I see in the T&C's it mentions participating retailers.

It is but taken from the Canon website the T&Cs say:

1.3. This promotion is only available on purchases of the Canon EOS 450D (any configuration) in the UK or the Republic of Ireland from participating retailers.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

I'm on the phone to Canon UK at the moment, rang the number from the T&C's.

I'll update shortly.

Vague answer, they said it should say on the website but it doesn't list the 450D on this page:

Here

Hmmm, not sure???? Worth calling empiredirect?

I've sent an email at customer services, still waiting. I can't call cause I'm at work :whistling:

ED say they don't know if they're participating - great!

I'll hold fire for the moment I think and see if their website updates in the next 24/48/72 hours.

Next thread down when you search for EOS 450D on HUKD.

Says that the person spoke to ED and they are not participating.

Guys I spoke to said to give it a few days and it might come on but sometimes they are excluded from these deals as they buy in bulk and pass on the savings.

I wish Argos would drop their price from 529.99 to 499.99 though, £50 cashback and I got £60 in Nectar points that I could use.

I have purchased a Canon 30d in the past from Empire Direct and got the Canon cashback with no problems. this was last year.
