Car Can Cooler / Fridge

Alright Peeps!

Am going on a little roadtrip around Europe this summer and would like a nice little fridge to keep some beers cold in the back for my mate and I when we finish driving for the day

Looking for one that will hold a little more than the standard 6 coke cans, but not looking for anything too big either.

If any of you have ones to recommend would be much appreciated

Ta

Ian

PS> AS cheap as possible as well please :) Also Good retailer would be preferred as I don't want it blowing itself or the car up!

When we travel we use a large capacity cool box something like this:

(I am on a restricted diet, so must carry the food I can eat.)
It's usually very easy to find restaurants, pubs and hotels that will fill a box of ice for us which serves the same purpose as a freezer pack. With all that insulation you would be surprised how cool the contents remain and should be OK for beer.
HTH:)

\That would suit me better as it would mean I wouldnt have to keep switching power between the GPS and cooler, plus no chance of the cooler heating up the air and going bang :D

Though it is the uncertainty of getting ice, and thus having cool beers at the end of the day :( lol

Also I am guessing most cool boxes are leak free?

With regard to the free ice, what did you ask / did you eat there/buy something before you asked?

Cheers

My other half usually sets a slab of ice in a 1" deep plastic betterware container that just happens to fit quite neatly in the base of the cooler. I can't help you with a European trip but throughout the UK, most barfolk will fill the tray with ice cubes for us. They all have icemakers so there isn't any hassle.

Admittedly, we usually say it's for my diet food and O/H does use it as an excuse to have a pint after a long days drive:) but I can't see why they would object if you just asked for a refill of ice. At one hotel where we stayed the manager kindly put the defrosted box in their freezer overnight and meanwhile provided a bag of ice for the cooler which we kept in our room. During cooler weather the slab of ice has lasted 48 hours.

It's also a method of keeping the cooler contents cool in or out of the car. I suppose it will depend where you are staying and eating.

There is a similar one at Argos
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3400487.htm
which you could pick up in store.
(Only £14 for the Gooutdoors model but £4 delivery.)
