Sounds about right to be honest.
Wife has been driving for 10 years, has a 1.6 TDCi focus and her insurance is £400.
Cosidering your a provisional i think thats probably about right.

See MSE insurance section.
Since you are a provisional driver have you tried getting a quote from an insurance company that fixes a box to bring down the price?
#4
direct line do this

try Aviva? can't say they will be cheaper but you get £50 cash back with quidco .. I go back to them every other year ? them and AA.. they tend to be cheaper for me. ..

"Does this seem right" depends on a lot of factors - engine size, modifications, job, where you live, NCD, where it's parked day and night, miles travelled, etc, etc

I'm 32 with 13 (and 7 on second policy) years NCD and insure a 15 year old Polo 1L run around and a CMax 1.6L...and I pay £460 for the pair with all the extras (legal cover, fuel cover, protected NCD). It dropped £60 this year just by moving house.

will most probably go up when you pass

sounds right for a low risk area, I know someone who is in the process of insuring pretty much the same car, they're in a low risk area and quotes start from £550 for him, on a 2 week old provisional

can't imagine you'll get a much better quote, unless you experiment adding more experienced drivers etc

you don't say if it's fully comp or TPFT.

see if TPFT makes a big difference. it may not. however, at the age/value of car really isn't worth it for fully comp. if you have a claim it will be a write off anyway due to it's value.

Fully comp is actually often cheaper than TPFT funnily enough, either that or barely any difference at all.

That sounds right but I would suggest you go back into that quote and make it as if you are a full licence holder just passed test today to see the price it will truly he once passed!!provisional is cheaper as you have to be supervised!!until you gave earned some no claims bonus I would probably expect nearer a 4 figure sum!Good luck x

Try collingwood for leaners used them for dd4 who was a teenage provisional driver and got it for £450 ish but got cash back from topcashback? or quidco? made it a bit cheaper.

The moral of the story is, if you pass, you'll pay for it - literally!

Daughter had learner driver insurance for a 1.3l fiesta, 52 plate. £400 with A-choice via confused.com. They wanted £1400 after she'd passed her test. Shopped around and got it for £890 fully comp, no black box with admiral via confused again. Don't bother with privilege. They wanted £2200!
