whilst i agree with the concept, is a petition really going to change anything?

everyone thinks a petition will solve all the world's problems when realistically, 99.9999% are ignored

The costs of car insurance is rising five times faster than train fares. There is, rightly, an uproar when train fees are increased however when it comes to car insurance the uproar is muted. The insurance industry has sought to end whiplash claims which will ultimately benefit the insurance industry. As car insurance is compulsory it should be nationalised and run as not for profit. The insurers are legally making vast profits for their shareholders and fleecing the public.

The above from the petition.

Honestly if you think the government is going to have time to care about anything other then leaving the EU once article 50 is invoked your going to be massively disappointed.

I've said before that as insurance is mandatory it should be a set amount and not there for people to make money from it. Personally i've been driving 12 years and no claims, therefore i have been made (yes the argument could be made for other transport methods but unfortunately my job requires rather awkward travel arrangements fairly often.) to pay in excess of £10k, so companies have made £10k of profit from me and i have nothing to show for it.

This petition "to help the insurers" isn't going anywhere.

I'm sure there was an insurer that you grouped together with other drivers (you don't necessarily need to know them) and all the money went into a group pot and if you didn't claim, at the end of the year you got a portion back. Its actually annoying that i can't remember them, as i'd probably go with them at renewal. Any ideas???
