You need to sort this out as once you have a cancelled policy on your record than finding other insurance will be expensive.

Call them up and ask them not to cancel and you will email everything on the spot

As stated above if they cancel your insurance you will have to declare that on future quotes. That and not receiving the extra years no claims bonus is a huge hit to take on principal.

I'd recommend you send the documents immediately via email and email the reason for the delay. They don't care if you renew or not they've got their money for this year just gone either way.

Most accept email docs so surely a quick email is worth it?

Get the email in now, with an explanation that you have been abroad and not had access to emails. Any reasonable company will accept this, they won't want to lose a customer!

Yeah will try that but to be fair they aren't going to lose anything since they have already taken the last payment from me :( so they probably won't even care.
This whole thing is just ridiculous I don't understand why they are doing this now so close to renewal date. Let's hope they'll be reasonable I mean people do go on holiday but I'm not holding my breath :(

But what are the chances they'll even accept it!? :( They seem to be acting rather rash, as I say it's only the 7th day and that's the notice of cancellation arrived already.

Try contacting trading standards. They will help you with the legal side of this. I.e. Can they do this at the end of your policy and the fact they have taken payment. Worth a try.

I've only ever had to supply proof of no claims. do companies now ask for additional info?

as others have said email all your docs in and give them a reason for the delay. usually you have to send documents in at the beginning of a policy not the end.

i would not be obstructive. email them the documents now and phone them on monday to explain why you are late in replying. most insurers will have good customer service.

you will be adversely affected in future if you don't resolve your current policy.

I'm assuming because they gave 7 days to submit and subsequent to that 7 days notice of cancellation then probably yeah they can screw you over

Tbh I'm completely raging that these documents are being requested coming to the end of my policy, it totally sucks. It almost feels like they are just doing it on purpose so I lose a year of no claims.

I'm trying to email them politely with paperwork requested and an explanation and really keeping my fingers crossed for the best (keep me in your prayers!) But as I said no holding my breath as it kinda seems like this is been purposefully done at this time for a reason.

How would my premium be affected going forward if they do go ahead and cancel? Would I struggle to get insurance? Surely they must ask the reason why it was cancelled and "failure to submit docs within 7 days" seems ridiculously trivial compared to other reason why it may be cancelled.

Also worth noting the original email stated the documents could be posted to them.... Is it likely that a mail item would reach them within 7 days!? Debatable. I could say I sent them they must have got lost in the post!! (Jk)

This doesn't make sense. It's the end of your year's insurance and you were on holiday so you didn't reply to your insurance company ? They would have asked for any documents necessary at the start of your policy. have you been away a year ?

have you had and accident and claim ? that is why they COULD ask for more documents later in the year.

your reticence makes this a very odd question it's like you have lied in your original application and don't want to send documents to prove them right.

so send in your documents by email and by post recorded delivery. they believe you have done something wrong and sadly so do I.

I have no issue sending the docs I'm just as I say confused as to why they are asking now when I have such a short time left on the policy that's all. I have nothing to hide. I do however tend to have have bad luck so it's like even though they will receive the docs as requested with an explanation as to why they are late, bc it's outwith the 7days I was given to send them I just see them being like "sorry too late" especially when they won't lose anything as the last payment has been taken
