Have you tried ringing around from the yellow pages, there is a compare number in there somewhere that will ask you a few questions and give you a list of numbers to phone that will best suit your circumstances. I have to be honest I tried the compare websites and didn't really find them any goodx x x x x

That's quite reasonable quote considering where you live..!!!

My first years insurance was £1300..!!! for an Escort 1.4, 5 years a go.

is there any insurance firms offering big Quidco discounts?

Check out Moneysavingsexpert. Ive recently done this and got my insurance down by £100 and thats upping to fully comp! Plus take your top 5 quotes and go see what Quidco pays, your 2nd or 3rd cheapest quote just may be better if the Quidco is more (although not guaranteed I know but worth a punt especially if there's only a tenner or so in it.) Hope this helps:)

here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/compare-cheap-car-insurance take you about 30-40 minutes but well worth it in my opinion.

Hence the temptation for fools not to get insurance and why the insurance is so expensive in the first place, I think it's wrong and the fine should be at least twice the cost of insurance.

Couldn't agree more but the lunatics are running the asylum and there's no real punishment for anything now. Should get the jail for deliberate no insurance but there's no places in the jail and noone to enforce fines if they don't pay so the nutters don't insure and probably nothing will happen - how often have you been stopped randomly and asked to produce insurance? Me - never in 45 yrs motoring.

I got a great quote from CIS http://www.co-operativeinsurance.co.uk/servlet/Satellite/1194335342398,CFSweb/Page/Insurance, saved me over £100 from most of the competition and £65 cashback from Quidco too. Might be worth a try.

Try direct line, or go on a site called motley fool and in the search type insurance I got quite a good deal.

Try adding an extra driver such as a partner, normally brings down the cost. (As long as they don't have an accident records or points etc...)
