On Friday the 28th our Car lost all power and went into limp mode, max 20MPH so we called our mobile mechanic who we have used numerous times, he fixed our clutch etc, always takes it away on a flatbed and returns it within 24-48 hours fixed with receipts and payment after work and always cheaper than anyone else.
So he turns up takes away the car and calls the next day advises its the swirl flaps are completely gone and needs to replace the whole unit £400+VAT for the Part + his work, so he wants £600.00.
He says he needs to money up front this time as its such a high price, so we agree as we trust him, why wouldn't we he has done this numerous times, know who he is, is numbers and address of the garage all online and check out.
He comes and collects the £600.00 and says the car has been dismantled just needs to put the new part back, and would be back with us in 24 hours.
3 days go by! no answer to his phone or messages (although it rings then goes to voicemail) then out of the blue his son texts me and says he had a car crash and was in hospital for 3 days, so we feel bad for going on at him, 2 days later he answers his phone and explains he won't be back in work until Tuesday just gone by, but our car will be fixed by Tuesday evening.
He messages on tuesday and says he has a backlog and will work on our car when he has time, so we ring to say no way he promised on tuesday…….
Its now thursday, he won't answer his phone, he won't respond to messages i can't get to the garage as its bloody miles away and I have no transport, I do not know what to do next? i am tempted to get the police involved, as i do not believe he was in a crash, i think he has done something with our money and is trying to delay, we have asked to return car and money instead and he just ignoring me at every point. i am doubting the fault now, in fact i am doubting everything,
anyone dealt with anything like this? before this experience he has been brilliant i just dont get it. If he was trying to scam me, he wouldn't be giving car crash stories etc his sim would be in the local river, its all strange.
What gets to me though, is we have 3 kids with disabilities, its been near impossible sorting transport out, and he knows this before he took the car we had a chat for about 30 minutes about the problems we have without the car, also £600.00 just before xmas we explained how this will come out of the kids budget and my eldest daughter has even been amazing at waiting until after xmas for something expensive she wanted (laptop) as she understands how desperately we needed the car fixed and running.
