Cheap BANGKOK or any THAILAND Flights - Please help!

Hey everyone, my girlfirend has not seen her brother for 3 years since he went to live in Thailand. Therefore, I thought I would try and earn a few brownie points by flying her to Thailand after xmas. I am pretty flexible on dates and duration but would preferably be sometime between 26th December - 11th January from any London airport.

I keep seeing deals online advertising flights for £400 but they are never available when I phone up - so frustrating! I have looked around on numerous websites but can't get below £661. Please help guys...anything below £500 would be fantastic! It would truly make my girlfriend's Christmas!!!

All the best,

JayKay

Blimey, reckon 661 might be your best hope for those dates.

If you can change your dates away from Chrimbo, Qatar Air, throught NetFlights.com are consistantly the cheapest and have been as low as 433 recently.

PS Thailand is awesome, you lucky git!!

Thanks for your help guys! Trickyjabs - I am not so lucky just yet...at the moment I can only afford one ticket if I am paying £661 so looks like my girlfriend will be travelling alone :( Or mayb I can start a row/break up and go to see HER brother on my own, lol!!! Sure that will go down well!

I will check STA out but I am sure £449 is not available for my dates. Does anyone know if last minute deals exist nowadays e.g. I sit and wait and then book a day before the flight? I am flexible but need to get her out there sometime after Xmas.

Thanks again!

Hi!

The dates you've chosen are the busiest of the year! Flights are already quite full, I think it's more reasonable to expect paying £700+ for a ticket to Bangkok, departure beginning of January.

There are no last minute deals to Bangkok (that works mostly for charter destinations, like Spain, Turkey, etc.), so for Asia, the earlier you book, the cheaper it is... Don't wait too long to book, otherwise consider travelling in a few months if you can get some time off, you will find a better deal.

Good luck!

I recommend a row and a trip on your own!! ;-) Only joking!

As others have confirmed, don't think you'll get a decent price for your dates, even last minute.

Just an idea, if you can wait, go in Easter (April), it is the height of the dry season and Thai new year which is AWESOME!! Turns into a national 3 day water fight. You should get flights for under 500 (I just found 492 for 1st two weeks of April with Cathay Pacific) if you book early. If you do book up, let me know if you need any ideas for hotels, getting around etc as I used to live out there.

Cheers guys - I just thought with the current credit crunch and the oil prices beginning to fall that airlines would be offering super deals around the xmas period - silly me!

I think my girlfriend's bro is only in Thailand for the Christmas period but I will find out tonight. Tricky - I would try going down the row and break-up route but I do not fancy sporting a black eye this Christmas, lol!

Easter does sound cool though - I am all up for water fights! My sister traveled the world last year and has gave me some rough guidelines of where to visit. Where would you recommend? I think Bangkok would be essential for maybe 1 or 2 nights just for the experience. Then I would love to go visit the tiger sanctuary and wash the elephants (apparently a 2-3hour journey from Bangkok). Then a half/full-moon party in Ko Pang Yang. Then of to Krabi for a boat to the islands. Does this sound like a good plan? Any additions guys?

Definately keep a close eye on Netflights.com. I've been getting regular emails from them offering returns Heathrow to Bangkok for about 433 on Qatar, which is a really good airline.

Allow yourself at least 2 -3 days in Bangkok. It is a city that people love or hate, I love it!! Really mad, hectic and lively 24 hours a day. Great for shopping, eating and drinkin and the people are brilliant. A good day out is a boat trip to Ayutthaya, the former capital and full of mad old buildings.

Krabi is one of the most beautiful places in Thailand, along with Phi Phi. Both quite a way from Bkk, so you'd probably need to fly. If you want something quite chilled out, Koh Samet island is really laid back, has gorgeous beaches and is only about 2.5 hours by bus from Bangkok.

Also quite a long way, but worth a visit to the north of Thailand to do some trekking. Chiang Mai is a really cool city and a good base.

As an idea, car hire and petrol is really cheap out there, so if you're feeling adventurous, you can head off under your own steam. Also, you can get 4* hotels for about 25 quid a night so you can live it up without breaking the bank!!
