Can someone give me some help with car choice. I need a really cheap to run car i.e. lowest tax band, cheap insurance (as it will be a second car), reliable, congestion charge exempt and a broker that will sell the car for less than what its listed at dealers.

Fiat 126

I'm actually being serious. My friend who's just leaving school [he's 15 now] is in love with cars, so his dad treated him to one [two years before he can actually drive] god knows why.. He pays £26 a YEAR insurance, even though he hasnt got a provisional, and its a classic car, the insurance for you may be slightly higher as his dad has the insurance over 4 cars. [Except the name on the insurance forms for the fiat is in his sons name].

I cant rmeember correctly but i think he said he pays just over £40 per 6mths/year for road tax..
hope this helps.

He also bought the car on eBay for £500
hi, if any help my sons first car was a peugout 106 it was group 1 insurance and very cheap to run, cheaper tax too, has now just got a bigger car but finding it a lot more costly to run, but had the 106 for 2 years and had very happy motoring, insurance we found cheapest for him through coop or morethen, they came up best for him when he started his own policy.

hope this helps and excuse my spelling of the "p" 106 doesnt look right but trying to type with two mad girls jumping around here!! lol :)

Toyota Aygo/Peugeot 107/Citroen C1 (same car really).

As to congestion charge... tough.
Your options are:
1. Hybrids (Toyota Prius. Honda Civic IMA)
2. G-Wizz or coming Smart Electro
3. Any vehicle with 9 or more seats (Ford Transit?)

now you choose :)
I need a good deal on one of these - Toyota Aygo/Peugeot 107/Citroen C1, supposedly they will be congestion charge exempt.
At the moment these are not exempt, AFAIK. It might become exempt if "Emissions Influenced Charging or the Low Emission Zone proposal" will be accepted.

BTW, Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI also in band B, and Grande Punto 1.3 Multijet and a handful of other cars.
vauxhall corsa 1.3 cdti I get about 70 mpg and I pay £35 a year road tax I can Even run it on vegetable oil:-D
