Cheap Digital Camera

Nan has just asked me to find her a good deal on a digital camera. Not sure how much she wants to spend (she asked dad to ask me, and he didnt think to ask any questions!) but the cheaper the better. I am thinking around the £50 mark.

Any advice on particular cameras, or just good sites to check would be appreciated.

Wish I knew she wanted one when the amazon deals were on - we got 2 cameras (both been claimed!) then didnt bother with the other mondays - could of tried to get her one too!

I'd go for a brand that is quite well known so that you know you're going to be taking photos that are good enough to print out and frame.

Even though a lot of people look down on Kodak, they are knocking out some decently priced cameras for novice photographers.

This one at amazon is £10 over your budget but there should be some amazon voucher codes to reduce the price a bit more.

Don't forget that most cameras now do not come with memory so you'll need to spend a bit on that.
Memory cards are cheap nowadays. Check play.com and mobymemory.com for individual memory card prices before deciding to purchase a 'bundle', it could work out cheaper!

Hope this helps!

I have the S600 Samsung you mention in the OP. I could sell it to you for £40 if you like. Brand new

It certainly does :)

Like I said, dont know exactly how much she wants to spend, so £50 is only a rough price. Camera seems good - not in stock at the moment but she doesnt need it right away anyway. Will keep this one in mind - thanks!

No thanks, buying for nan will have to be bought from a proper shop that she knows

So are you only looking at high street shops?

Try this.

I'm not sure whether its good or not, but its similar to the ones you would have got from Amazon, so you'd know its good and bad points :)

Pretty much, definitely stores only, but she knows amazon, play etc - so website only are ok

Camera reviews say that batteries only last a few photos :-(

Both look good (since amazon doesnt have the 1st one in stock, and its the same price!) I have a 5% discount code for play too, and would get quidco.

If it were me, I'd go for the Kodak. I've owned cameras from both manufacturers.
Kodak make much better low end cameras.
Fuji Camera's only start to become good when you look at their higher end D-SLR range.
I wouldn't touch a low end Fuji to be honest. I'm stuck with a poor effort that cost me £160. I would hate to think what a £60 Fuji would be like!

The Kodak from Play looks like winner to me. Plus if you order the memory card at the same time they should arrive at the same time. So when the camera arrives your nan can start filling up that memory card!
