Just got my 360 HD-DVD player and now I'm looking for the best place to buy discs from ??

Play.com don't seem to have that many titles and I'm sure they can be found cheaper elsewhere....?

Anyone know of a decent place to buy from ?

I've just checked playusa.com and it says they are region 1 and you need a North American Xbox 360 ??

their is currently no region protection on HD DVD's so you can play any region of HD DVD on your unit.

When they decide to region code HD DVD (surely it will happen) the region coding of your HD Drive is determined by your region of xbox 360 so if you have a UK 360 and a USA HD drive your drive will only play region 2 HD DVD and vice versa

Hope this helps

hd dvd can play on ALL hd dvd players at this stage.

ANY REGION DISK plays on your xbox 360 HD DVD player.

i have only used places like dvdpacific.com

their prices are great, they have way more films than any uk retailer and there is no stupid waiting for ages for some rehashed film to be released.

i mistakenly ordered chronicles of riddick from a uk place, it cost £14 , a little more expensive than the usa version but i thought i would get the disk quicker...wrong. i didnt check that it isnt out for another month in the uk despite being out for months in usa.

it takes about 7 days if you order on a monday from dvd pacific, they were most helpful and cheap cheap cheap.

if using places like them, order 1 item at a time ( on their website, select option 2 for delivery) and make each order completely seperate as most places pack the disks together otherwise to save postage, which is great apart from you may then cop for the duty, wiping any savings right off.

i have got batman begins, poseiden, constantine all from dvd pacific in minto condition a good deal cheaper than anywhere else.

to be honest i dont see the point? why pay more for second hand and possibly damaged or ripped off, when you can get brand spanking new in minto condition for less?

see how much batman begins is on flea bay, i paid £12.30 delivered for it new.

lol flea bay !! :)

brum - are you a member with dvd pacific coz then that makes a nice saving on price

is it free to join ?

mate it is an online retailer, you see what you want, you buy it, you place your details on the web site and have the option to store your details ( i did for delivery but not for payment).
dont forget that you should only order 1 thing at a time, and select option 2 on delivery, then once that order has been placed and given an order number, order another item, this way you wont reach the £17.50 limit for products from non eu countries which means you have vat to pay.

by buying 1 at a time ( they may send out loads to you all at once, but as long as they have seperate order numbers and are packed individually you are ok).

there are other usa retailers, i looked at loads of them and read up on them, i placed a couple orders with dvd pacific, they were helpful and also cheap, a great combination. i will stick with them unless i see something loads cheaper somewhere else which will be hard to do looking at the price on most hd dvd on the site.

yeah but why does it say ' members price ' ?

:?

noticed the shipping cost at dvd pacific is pretty hefty except for the international surface mail which seems o.k. price wise but 9 - 20 business days ??

brum - which shipping method do you opt for ? what is option 2 coz I want to know before I register that is all...thanks

im selling Dune and King Kong if your interested :)
Word of warning, if you order from US, dont go over £18 otherwise you will get stung by customs, I did on a recent order :-(

£3.29 may seem alot of postage but when the hd dvd is £10 it still works out £3 or £4 cheaper on most titles.

option 2 is i regards to the 3 postage/account options for delivery, what is not too clear is that most of the options basically mean that if you make an order and then it goes through , you then make another order to avoid the duty, it CAN club both orders togewther and they go out as 1 item, this ******s up any chance of saving money, you will get hit by customs.

just register, order 1 hd dvd and select option 2 for delivery, you wont mess anything up that way. they have films like lucky number slevin, the departed and loads of other great films not yet out in the uk.

the delivery is international priority mail, it took no more than 7 days for my orders, however your goods are even cheaper using the slower postage.

I have purchased around 40 DVDs from DVD Planet, who I highly recommend as an importer - cheap, fast and efficient. Shipping takes a while, but hey - bargain prices!

As I said in my previous thread...

I use MovieTyme. If you sign up to their newsletter you get a 50p off voucher and they occasionally send £1 vouchers to encourage buying HD-DVDs. Delivery took 5 weekdays (Ordered Sunday evening, arrived Saturday morning) and the prices you see are the prices you pay for including shipping!

i hope you ordered 1 at a time ( a seperate order for easch film, AND chose option 2 the deliver when order is complete) otherwise you may get stung.

i will continue using them as they have been good so far, the test is always when there is a problem, and how they handle it. i had a problem by ordering wrong, i emailed them and told them i messed up on the order, they let me cancell and reorder the correct way to avoid the vat man.
