I've generally found that this is cheaper than any of the other tour operators who go to the same hotels and use the same flights:
http://www.directholidays.co.uk/

Although cheapest of all sometimes is to build your own package through the likes of Opodo.

Any of you dealers out there in the world going to the World Cup in Germany 2006 ?
Because all the match for where I won tickets are in Dortmund or Gelsenkirchen so I need a good deal to Dortmund airport but the thing is that the only UK charter company hat goes to Dortmund is easyjet and they have'nt realeased there flights yet.

Also does anyone know any good flight deals to Dusseldorf Airport because this is quite near to my destination ?

Many Thanks for any help,

Phew Vikash! You're making this hard work! Which dates do you want to fly out and back? I've found that there are several matches on in Dortmund:

Sat 10 June 2006 Group B Match
Wed 14 June 2006 Group A Match
Mon 19 June 2006 Group G Match
Thurs 22 June 2006 Group F Match
Tue 27 June 2006 Round of 16
Tue 4 July 2006 Semifinal

I would like to fly out on Saturday 17th and come back Friday 23rd.

OK, not many options to Dortmund currently but several to Dusseldorf.
For example with Air Berlin (www.airberlin.com) leave Stansted at 11.30 on 17th arrive 13.45 (local time) return flight departs at 15.05 arrives 15.20 or take the 20.10 arriving 20.25 cost of these is £40 return.

British Airways from heathrow offers 4 flights out on 17th and 4 returns on the 23rd all the same price of £125.80

Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS): Only 60km south-west of Dortmund, Düsseldorf Airport is a viable means of getting there. There are several trains available. For train timetable information, http://efa.vrr.de/vrr/XSLT_TRIP_REQUEST2?language=en, on that site in the top line type or paste in 'duesseldorf', in line 2 'flughafen', in line 3 'dortmund', line 4 'hauptbahnhof' (i.e. central railway station), then click 'Submit' for the transport alternatives. You will be asked to specify exactly which 'duesseldorf flughafen' station you are leaving from (there are several). Click 'Submit' again, and the options will appear. The ride north-east to Dortmund generally takes about an hour and a quarter, depending on the kind of train.

Getting to Westfalenstadion. The stadium is the home ground of Borussia Dortmund:
Train:
From central station to station Westfalenhalle.
Underground:
From the central station (Hauptbahnhof) to Westfalensttadion station on line U45.
Tram:
Tram (406).

Info on Dortmund here: http://www.soccerphile.com/soccerphile/wc2006/city_guide/dortmund.html

Hope this is a good starting point for finding your flight, you're quite early in booking so there should be no problem with seats (Air Berlin still had over 9 this morning). One thing to do is check on the internet for local football clubs etc. because they will often charter aircraft and sell seats to 'outsiders' so that they fill the flight. I'd expect there will be a lot of charter flights going to Germany.

Good luck and viele spass ;-)

gave you some karma mikewot, that's some helpful research there :)
#9
Thanks for the Karma (although I've no idea what it is/does!) :-)
I enjoy a deal as much as the next guy, only my 'research' has generally been in areas which affect/interest me. This site has been excellent at sniffing out deals I'd never find, so its nice to be able to give some payback :-) One hand washes the other ;-)

Karma is just a status thing. It doesn't do anything, it just shows everybody the great work you've done if you have postitive (+) karma. Negative (-) karma is given when you spam the forums. Us mods get negative when we delete threads though. LOL.

No one should worry about getting around Germany. They have a great rail network that is on time and very efficient. All you travelers going to the world cup the best advice I could give you is book early via one of the Low cost carriers eg Liverpool - Colgne or Berlin. I have first hand experience of Dortmund (was based there for 12 months) and is only 2 hours by train. You have the option of the slow train or the "ICE" train which is more expensive. Once in Dortmund you can very easily walk to the stadium. Hope this helps went several times.

p.s. based on slinks' post about an all inclusive in spain, i looked on expedia and found this:

2 wks all inclusive for 2 adults £1274 inc british airways flights from london to girona

all inclusive staying at guitart central park and spa in lloret de mar

depart 3rd july, return 17th july

hope this helps - expedia is great for these types of searches!
