I normally go to Spain in April and September. I start by getting best price flights - http://www.skyscanner.net and then check Ryanair, Easyjet and BMI baby. Once I know the area I am going to I go on Trip Advisor and check out the feedback on hotels in that area. I have never failed to get a really good deal. Hope that helps.

If you can provide more details I can have a look for you - usually do about 5-6 trips a year and always book flights, accommodation seperately as works out cheaper. How many going (adults and children), what airports can you leave from, 1 week or 2 week holiday, self catering, B&B, Half Board etc. What kind of budget you looking at?
Most of Spain in April won't be boiling hot but high 60's to low 70's depending how far south you go.

Thanks mate. 2 adults and 1 child, any airport in Scotland, 1 week, self catering would do. Any budget as long as its a good deal ;) What place would you recommend in Spain? Thansk for your help and time.

Done a bit of digging about and came up with the following - it might not be suitable for you as a family as its a bit non-conventional way of booking but if on a tight budget it is always the way I go about things. Majorca was coming out about the cheapest. Weather not roasting but pleasantly nice that time of year. Assuming you are slightly flexible with dates:
Anyway, here goes:
Outbound Flight

Edinburgh - Majorca - Monday 11/04 with Ryanair leaving at 06:35am - Total Cost for 3 = £92.97 (this included 3 x 10KG hand luggage and assumed 2 X Checked baggage of 15KG would suffice-add £15 for extra suitcase or deduct £15 for one fewer suitcase or deduct £30 for just hand luggage)

Return Flight

Majorca - Glasgow Prestwick (cheaper than returning to Edinburgh) Monday 18/04 with Ryanair leaving at 11.20am, Total Cost for 3 = £113.97 (again assuming 3x10kg hand luggage and 2 suitcases)

Accomodation

Through onthebeach.co.uk - plenty of Apartments to choose from - the below is just an example of a One Bedroom Appt on Self Catering Basis:

Apartments Holiday Center in Santa Ponsa - Check in Monday 11/04 - Depart Monday 18/04
For 2 adults and 1 child the total cost is £107.24 BUT USE VOUCHER CODE EARLY2011 AND GET A £50 DISCOUNT so price for apartments will be £57.24

In summary
Outbound Flights - £92.97
Return Flights - £113.97
Accommodation - £57.24 (using the Voucher Code I mentioned)

Total Cost for Family of 3 = £264.18

As I say, might not be suitable in the slightest as takes a bit of work and need to be organised but this is the way I book our holidays as much cheaper than going to a Travel Agent. You would still need to get transport to and from Majorca airport and your accommodation but plenty companies offering this service.
Whatever you do have a great time.

Looking at it, Spain is probably the best option in terms of 'C/£

Egypt is around the same temps but flights would be a killer.

I just booked my holiday to the States through DialAFlight. I have used them since the volacno ash cloud caused havoc and their customer service was second to none. They seem pretty competitive, but, more importantly, with all the stuff that can go wrong it's great to know that there's someone intelligent and willing to help just a phone call away. I used a chap called Bradley on 020 8225 0066 if you say you were recommended (say George Marshall gave you his details)you'll get a repeat discount and he's promised to look after me if I put some bsiness his way!!
