Does anyone know the best place to get a copy?

Thanks :)

ubuntu is an excellent os, definately worth looking at!

if you are a student then you can get free server 2003 OS from microsoft....

I preferably wanted XP or Vista as I know I can run all of the programs I want on there easily. As for a backhand copy I'd prefer to have a legit version as it means I can validate it without hassle. Does anyone know any good sites for a cheap XP/Vista OS? I've looked at overclockers and they seem to be the best so far..
I've not heard of free server 2003 before, is that a stripped down version of xp or something? ~_^

ubuntu is a very easy to use linux distro -- a world apart from previous 'nerdy' incarnations of linux and with good (/better) driver support etc -- it even offers a live cd option to 'try it' via an existing windows installation so you could always suck it and see.... it has windows emulators too (e.g. 'wine') to run windows apps...

ubuntu is good, however, if you're looking for XP - I suggest looking at that fantastic (with all sarcasm) auction site - there's usually some good deals there.

Its really not.

Its Linux. All the geeks love it, anyone with any sense, has tried it, realised its just a pain in the **** and gone back to a proper OS like XP or Leopard.

Linux = Jokes.

Oh and Ubuntu is free anyway.

Oh and I think you need this:

https://downloads.channel8.msdn.com/

Windows Server 2003 for free.

There are plenty of guides on how to tweak it for perfect workstation use - but it works out of the box anyway.

I haven't checked the link above but have used Win 2003 Server and its ROCK solid!

can't recommend it enough if you're getting it for free
